Domino’s Pizza Opens 5,000th International Store Despite Being Terrible

27 years after opening its first international store, Domino’s Pizza will open its 5,000th store outside of the US. Domino’s has more than 9,800 stores in 72 countries. To celebrate this accomplishment Domino’s will be presenting three stores with the symbolic title of Domino’s 5,000th international store. Grand opening celebrations will take place in Cologne, Germany; Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; and Penang, Malaysia. These locations represent some of the newest and fastest-growing in the Domino’s Pizza global operations.
This is a pretty amazing feat, and so we got to thinking does everyone just love Domino’s? The answer is a resounding no. The average pizza place is rated just a little higher than the average non pizza place 3.82 to 3.79 of 5, and Domino’s scores significantly below the average pizza place at 3.22 of 5 stars. This score is a significant outlier for Domino’s putting it in the bottom 6% of pizza places!
So what was worse? For big chains, not much, basically just Chuck E Cheese 2.86 stars and Cici’s Pizza 3.05 stars.
When considering places with at least 10 ratings, individual pizzerias and small regional pizza chains performed the best, with the best overall going to Sedona’s Troia’s Pizza Pasta Amore with an average of 4.92 of 5 stars.
