Big Road Trip Day 1
See the Restaurant Road Trip of America planning and uploaded GPS coordinates of the trip in progress, or follow me on Twitter.
Day 1 is now complete. I started in Cleveland, headed down to Columbus to see my parents, and then drove to Chicago.
Because the day started late I only ate one meal officially on the trip and it was great! You can read my review of Bynum’s Steak House in Indianapolis. Bynum’s was not very much out of the way, but hidden enough that it was very nice for the recommendation system to point me right to it.
I don’t think this trip would be possible without my Garmin GPS device, however, the normally reliable contraption led me off the highway to the downtown area of none other than Gary Indiana (formerly known as the Murder Capital of America) and ongoing construction blocked my ability to get back on the highway. Thanks Garmin. As luck would have it I was in fact not murdered, however, I will have to rethink my policy of automatically ceeding all decision making authority to the Garmin device.
Tomorrow the goal is to get to Duluth, but I’ll stop at an ice cream parlor in Wisconsin that claims to have invented the ice cream sundae.
