Stomping Grounds Cafe Reviews
Service can be slow but food and coffee is spot on.

Eat outside in good weather. Great food and espresso.
by Jacob B.
Pretty efficient even when busy. Especially our waiter. The sandwiches are great, curried chicken and also the tomato basil soup!
by Kaylie R.
The vegetarian sandwich is very flavorful!
by Early T.
There hot chocolate is amazing!!!
by Kathryn M.
Stomping Grounds has been doing it right for many years. Even before they expanded into the space to the North, they were a great place for a great cup of coffee.
by Ron P.
Fast and friendly service! The chai latte is delicious.
by Bri N.
Hot Chocolate is delicious!
by Paul T.
Music majors, Asians wearing more Polo than Mr. Ralph Lauren himself, & textbook hipsters. Nuff' said. Oh & their chocolate shakes are to die for!
by Frederick F.
I have been here several times and have always gotten great prompt service. And everything I've had on the menu is good.
Hit or miss...you will probably be ignored by the servers. If you are not, however, you will love their tea and paninis!
by Kayla B.
The green tea mint is spectacular!
by Casie T.
One of the only good places in Ames that has outdoor seating. Try the tomato basil bisque!
by Shana S.
Their mocha shake is awesome!
by Joseph N.
The vegetarian sandwich is the best! But be careful not to cut the inside of your mouth with the sharp bread.
by Lisa R.
Boo for covering up the outlets. Countrcafe culture is fine to a point but no outlets to charge cellphones or laptop batteries sends us to nonlocal alternatives
by Susan W.
In an effort to discourage cafe culture all outlets are covered. NO power.
by Erin B.
Try the roasted tomato and goat cheese crepe or ham and Gruyére croissant. Both are flavorful options.
by Des Moines Metromix
Vanilla Banana Shake!
by B.J. F.
awesome food and service. glad we went.
by Matt S.
Worst service ever. Asked for my check after over an hr and was told I would have to wait for my server. 20 more minutes.
Why do I keep coming here?? This place is so over priced and the service isn't that good.
by Fiona F.
Nice little coffee shop. All their food is simple but amazing. Great atmosphere to sit and do homework or catch up with a friend.
by Christi B.
They serve much more than just coffee, they even have french crepes!
by Isaac T.
Probably wouldn't come here again.
by Fiona F.
Favorite place to go when visiting Ames!
by Anne G.
Best Tomato Basil Soup ever!! Great service today too.
by Tim R.
Awesome crepes while in Ames, IA
by Philip E.
Great coffee, great atmosphere. Definitely an Ames treasure.
by Sam S.
They lock all their power outlets - a move as weak as their espresso.
by Eric C.
The live music here is really good! ;) <3
by Ian B.
The chai lattes are absolutely delicious!
by Heather S.
Agree with earlier tips. Coffee isn't as good as it used to be. Servers are very unfriendly... I was just telling my friend how nice iowans are, and they made a liar of me.
by Kerstin H.
If you ever get good, prompt service, be extremely shocked.
by Richard L.
Yemen Mocha, iced or hot, this is the best varietal they offer.
by Rachel D.
keep an eye on the back alley merchant for all sorts of local artwork for sale.
by Corban C.
The ice cream mocha milkshake is awesome...
by Andrew R.

If you're new to tea try their Jamacian Rooibos or an Oolong.
by Brian D.

by Gerui L.
great atmosphere and great food. a little hippy vibe.
by Chris C.
Best coffee in town, but they keep the power outlets covered. Make sure your laptop is charged before coming in.
by Benjamin W.
Fuck this place
by Mallory A.
Still the best coffee shop on campus, but stay away from their expensive food.
by Ryan T.
Service isn't the best. They have a cafe/restaurant identity crisis and servers often ignore people they judge to be there for the "cafe" experience rather than the "diner" experience.
