• I think some restaurants should not be allowed to serve alcohol because it apparantly clouds peoples judgement. There steak is good not great nor is it the best. That Top butt they cut from is not that flavorful albeit tender. the flavor comes from their rubs which i thought their house rub tastes exactly like the montreal steak spice that you buy at walmart! the service was good i have to say but it is a very loud crowded in atmosphere where i would not bring our son (i could hear profane language from the bar area and we were quite a few tables from the bar) you could also hear a half dozen other peoples conversations because the booths are so crowded on top of each other. I did enjoy watching one of their cooks trim steaks.

• There is nothing negative that can be said about this restaurant other than everyone else knows it's the best and the place is always packed. I like my steak well done, this is usually an issue when I order a steak, it typically gets sent back several times because it's undercooked, by the time it's right the steak is shoe leather, NOT the case at Mac's. I have never had to send a steak back even once when dining at Mac's and it still comes out as tender as my mother's who order's it medium rare. The food is wonderful, the service is excellent and the prices for the amount of food you get are extremely reasonable. It is hands down the best steakhouse in the state.

• I've been going here for the past several years.The food is still OK (not fabulous, but ok,) but the service has dropped off.The last two times I've gone, service has been slow, not cooked to order, and even served COLD. The price point is middling high for the area, so with bad service, I've stopped going.

• Everything here is out of this world! But my fave. is the old Fashioned! Yum!! The garlic mashed potatoes are truely wonderful, this coming from someone who never orders mashed potato anywhere!! I have never had a bad meal here! The wait is worth it trust me!!

• I was sent to this establishment by the folks at the front desk of the chain motel in town (can I say Hilton?)Frankly I must be missing something.Ambiance was abysmal....loud loud loud.My 'mini mac' was just that: mini!!! This "butt steak" was SMALL (5 oz on a good day!!) If it didn’t take so long in the first place to get my food I would have ordered a second so I could have left fairly full. The salad was fresh...chain store dressing however. Anyway there are a lot of places I can try before returning to VA.

• This place is excellent..wish they made a steak like this in the south...came to visit not toooooo long ago.....this a MUST visit when I come back to MAINE. Was here about 2 weeks ago....the food is WONDERFULLLLLLLLL!!!

• This is the best restaurant I have found this side of Saugus, Ma. The Hill Top. That was my favorite before.The waiter we have always had, Jeff, is teriffic, he made sure my 'naked' steak was perfect and the rest of the orders were just so.Everyone is very friendly, the place is clean and the owners have a great place.

• They have awesome COW here. Melt in your mouth, cut with a butter knife type of stuff. You can order it your way - they actually have a "taster" of seasoning options so you can select what works for you. This is the best steak in Maine. Period. Go try it.

• Meals are excellent. Don't forget to call ahead for a number or you'll wait a long time (but it's worth the wait). If you like spicy try the devil's rub. Also the old fashion is great - steak served with garlic butter on top of a crouton, yummmm.
