Thereís a reason why Hillís Cafe has been a south Austin institution since 1947 ó and that reason is good food and a fun and friendly atmosphere...

Hill's Cafe Reviews
Hill's has opened, closed, re-opened, closed, and re-opened again several times over the years. Currently, it is owned by a local radio personality and has been doing business under his ownership for several years. I have eaten here maybe 6 times in as many years. At the early visits, the wait staff was terrible. They were inattentive and in some cases rude. Friends tell me that they still find the wait staff to be disinterested and pre-occupied but I believe they have gotten better. I think the steaks here are too tough for my tastes. They are famous for their chicken fried steak, but I dont care for the heavy seasoning. On the other hand, they make a TERRIFFIC burger. Its the only thing on the menu that I order, and it is on of the best in Austin. If their other items were as good as the burger I would rate the place much higher.
The Country Bob Burger is AH-MAZING! You'll definitely have leftovers with pretty much anything you eat! Love this place!

Open in the same location since 1947, Hill's Cafe is an Austin landmark serving up Texas specialties such as chicken-fried steak, tamales, barbecue, skillet enchiladas, fried chicken, and catfish.

Southwest burger-amazing the queso and jalape√Īo combo on this is great. We loved the buttermilk mushrooms, nice rich flavor and the peach & pear cobbler is a good end to a great meal here!

Bob Cole runs another Austin landmark into the ground. Boo hoo, not making any money. There's not a godamn meal under $10! You can raise prices through the roof OR buy shit-quality food, but not both.

Awesome service, free DELISH warm rolls. The burgers are so yummy ! Pretty affordable
I've tried to eat here probably ten times. Every time I stop by, they're closed, even though the posted hours say they're open. Are they out if business?
