  • hcl40 reviewby far the BEST steak meal in the USA as well as overseas. I have traveled overseas for 50 years (busibess) and have never found a better steak including Kobe steak in Jap

    44444 by hcl40

  • hcl40 reviewi don't exactly remember how good the steaks were since i last ate there when i still lived in the USA (9 years ago) but as a little girl (i'm 18 now) i definitely remember their apple pie... and being handed with a whole bowl of whipped cream to top it with!

  • VincentRoccanov reviewA group of 8 waited 3 months for reservations and finally on Sat Mar 27 after sitting in traffic for 2 hrs we arrived at the infamous Peter Luger's. I don't know what all the hype is about - it was a total disappointment. The steak is ok at best. Nothing wonderful - not mouth-watering, just a steak. I much prefer a baked potato - not home fries. I also like my own steak cooked the way I like it. If you think Peter Luger's is great - try Lorenzo's in Trenton. You'll definitely think that is a steak to die for. Don't waste your time and money. Next time, I'll go to my butcher and buy a 2-3` steak of choice and grill it to perfection the way I like. This was more than just disappointing. I don't know what the draw is - it certainly isn't the food, service and least of all atmosphere.

  • VincentRoccanov reviewOurtstanding experience included: melt in your mouth steaks cooked exactly to order, large portions (meat and sides), fairly priced wine list, good service, and the kind of atmosphere that money can't buy or create. Would recommend to anyone.

  • VincentRoccanov reviewI was born and raised in Brooklyn and dined at Peter Luger's 12-15 times. The steaks are excellent. I do not enjoy dining without table cloths when prices are so high. The wait staff are arrogant and at times downright hostile. Everything on the menu is a la carte. Pathetic. If you are going to spend the money go to Gallaghers in Manhattan for a true dining experience and world class steaks. AlV

  • VincentRoccanov reviewMy husband, daughter and son- in-law knew the food would be wonderful and we loved it! But from what we knew we thought the waiters would be rather nasty. But from the moment we walked in, the maitre de was sweet and friendly. The waiter was the nicest man you could meet. Very efficient but also we had a great conversation with him and it was very pleasant. His service and attention was wonderful and we just had a great time. Can't wait to go back!!! • ChefMozMy wife and I made reservations several months in advance (as is necessary). Took a cab from the Waldorf Astoria to dine Saturday night at 7pm. When we arrived we told the host we were there. He said wait at the bar. At 7:35 I politely told him we were still waiting. At 8:15 after several very expensive, cash only drinks we left without eating. At no time did anyone appear the least interested in us or the fact that we'd been waiting a long time. I got the feeling that a tip was expected to be seated but everyone was so cold, almost to the point of "We're so busy, we don't give a DAMN about you two," I was determined not to pay for seating. The place was dirty, greasy, loud, and of course crowded. The cab fare back was about $50 and we ate a good steak at another restaurant. I honestly believe it's just another tourist trap. I'll be damned if I ever set foot in the place again.

  • ChefMozDry-aged porterhouse steaks are good. Service is so so...but, we are there for the food. ^_^Don't forget to stop at the ATM: Regulars know that Luger doesn't accept credit cards, only cash.

  • Tony X.The steaks would taste better if everybody wasn't such D-bags. Literally heard someone try to get a table with no reservation saying "We work at Goldman Sachs". Seriously? Kills the vibe entirely.

  • VoiceStreetPeter Luger's burger is no frills & all flavor. It offers a thinly charred exterior to a precious pink treasure of its juicy, dry-aged core.Topped with onion, American cheese, & a thick slab of bacon.

    55555 by VoiceStreet

  • VoiceStreetYou will be admonished if you order your steak anything other than rare, so it's best to just let the kitchen take control. For sides, creamed spinach, onion rings, & German fried potatoes are a must.
