Eating For Sanity on Feb 16, 2014
We were both expecting more palate-cleansing type dishes for the second courses, but instead encountered this surprisingly rich dish. The oyster and uni is exactly as the name describes and was served mignonette style. Each mignonette was made with either oyster or uni and was topped with pickled onions and crushed pine nuts.

With three unique spaces, this is a go-to for all things celebration. In the Dining Room, you’ll sup on contemporary American fare beneath a light installation made from 4,600 Riesling bottles.

Great decor. Fantastic menu. Perfect date restaurant.

Have the scallops. They also have wine from Golan heights
by Ritika S
Huge wine list; the food is pretty good, too

Pollenta fries, wine pairings

Holy cow this meal was incredible! Burrata and polenta fries were out of this world! Best I've ever had! Carbonara was very good. Local fish was over salted. Service was impeccable.
by Michelle S.
Reminds me of a gossip girl style restaurant, posh and pretty. Definitely try the duck and the chocolate bar!
by Elizabeth S
Great place for a quiet dinner with amazing food. I ordered the king salmon entree and it was so good!
by Chee Yi O.
Their truffle pizza is as good as pizza in Italy.

Tap into your inner chocoholic with the Chocolate Bar — a flourless chocolate cake, chocolate crunch and chocolate ice cream.

A grueling Monday calls for pizza. Luckily, your mozzarella fix just got cheaper. At the sommelier-owned hot spot, happy hour pies are now $10.

The Boarding House offers 2 hummus sides: one is black bean-based & served with red pepper relish, while the other is a jaffa hummus that comes with shallots, cumin, lemon juice & housemade crackers.

Chocoholics rejoice! Tap into your inner Count Chocula with the Chocolate Bar, a flourless chocolate cake, chocolate crunch and chocolate ice cream.

Burrata is to die for.

The decoration is amazing. We went with a big group and everyone said the food was very good.

Love my mushroom risotto.

The Boarding House has an AMAZING pork chop. The best I've ever had!!!
by Christopher Floss
Ask for a wine pairing! Calamari was great and mushroom risotto.
by Allison K.
This place has it all!! Great ambience, nice food selection for appetizers and entrees, excellent wine list, outstanding and knowledgeable service, and reasonable prices! It's a winner! Go here!

Just stopped in for a drink looks great!

Beautiful Restaurant great for dates.

To ignore the signature Chicken Three Ways — a $39 entree sized for two — is to miss the point of the restaurant entirely.

There's a gorgeous cream-puff trio with banana cream, pistachio cream and blood-orange cream fillings; together, they look like colorized profiteroles.
by Chicago Tribune
The Bavarian sausage plate is the must-try appetizer, featuring a soft, light-on-the-tongue sausage of pork, chicken and truffle.
by Chicago Tribune
Decent food but overpriced for what it is.
by Jack S.
This place had great signature cocktails. Try the "Teachers Lounge." Everybody would be happy if that was in the coffee pot. 😎👟

Great food,, Amazing decor, outstanding service
by Shaza Khier
The Polenta Fries were incredible. The egg and truffles were a delicious addition, and the polenta was still crispy underneath all of that goodness. Probably my favorite part. Lamb was just okay.
by Jill Tiongco
Very chic....great place to relax with good food & glass of wine!!!
by Chaka W.
Venison...medium rare, enough said!
by Ali Raza
Nice atmosphere & decor. Good food & service. Beer salad, squid ink pasta, & venison were quite flavorful.
by Brian M.
Not your mom's pork chop. Unless your mom makes the best pork chop ever; on a cauliflower puree with butternut squash and pork belly. Honestly, when a pork chop is done right... you can't go wrong.
by Linda F.
Sit upstairs!
by Sloan S.
Loved it. It was a thx giving set menu but still delicious. Nice chilled vibe in both the downstairs bar and upstairs restaurant.
by Warren F.
Ambience can't be beat. Despite snooty waitress loved the food - highly recommend the beet salad and octopus potato appetizers.
by Andrea J.
On the 3rd floor, I loved the pork chop with grits and cube of pork belly.
by Matt
Tables by the window upstairs on the 3rd floor or on the mezzanine level are less noisy. Food is outstanding. I had the wild Alaskan salmon.
by Lindsey S.
Wine, appetizers/small plates and desserts are incredible! Entrees are pretty standard/average. May be worth it to just order lots of appetizers!
by Priya V.
Decent portions, 10,000+ wine glass chandelier is spectacular. Get halibut, skip the salmon.
by Benjamin D.
Great decor!
by Claudia P.
Terrible service! Long waits in between food. Food not worth the price in the upstairs dining area
by Courtney S.
The duck egg was amazing. And the chocolate brownie with merlot ice cream. YUM!
by Christine H.
Awesome service, octopus was great, and the pork chops were very good as well.
by Ankur K.
The Boarding House's menu has changed significantly since the restaurant opened earlier this year. Try it out on one of sidewalk patio's 50–60 seats. http://tmout.us/lKTEo

Great food, drinks and service. Even with res had to wait for a table--got free drinks and apps and apologies! Pricey. Def recommend--maybe for special occasion!
by Liz H.
Great food, service and wine. Staff is extremely knowledgable about wine pairings.
by Renee B.
Good food but small portions and a bit pricey.
by Chris M.
Amazing decor, and delicious food. The portions aren't huge, so an app or salad is a good call. I had the cod and enjoyed it but I think next time I'll order the scallops. They tasted great too.
by Elissa C.
Every seat in the house is great, they pair your meal like champs! Ask for Amy!
by Beau B.
The duck breast was amazing.
by Joe Carr
Food was good, although limited selection for vegetarians. Also never been so rushed to get through a meal by the staff. They will take the plates right out from under you while still eating! No joke!
by Mark A.
If you feel like waiting 25 minutes for a drink feel free!
by Nick B.
Drinks were great, but I highly recommend passing on the food. Everyone in our party got sick.
by Jill B.
amazing service. the staff was incredibly accommodating and gracious. not to mention the food and wine - unreal.
by Paige T.
There's a reason why some items aren't priced in the menus. $11 Stiegl beer? Sheesh. Much too steep.
by Linnéa S.
The food: The butternut squash soup was perfect for the rainy day. The duck & scallops were perfectly cooked & savory. We enjoyed the lobster poutine, rich & unique. The decor: Absolutely stunning!
by Margaret H.
Although the first floor is the most aesthetic, be sure to check out the downstairs and upstairs for a more loungey setting. Also, hats off the the sommelier!
by patrick s.
Fantastic poutine...the waiter was right, if pairs with every wine! Pizza was amazing- crust as light as air.
by Aimee G.
The Side Piece cocktail is like a smoothed-out version of a Sazerac... try it.

Don't share ur pizza mo mo with three people!!!
by Rebecca A
Nice people working at that joint but the food was overpriced and disappointing. Go for cocktails, skip the resturant.
by Frank L.
Try the sugar pie. You won't be disappointed!
by Kori R.
Eat before dining upstairs. The meals are way over priced. It's not like it's Girl and The Goat. Also why is the alcohol selection different between the two separate floors? I don't understand.
by Paul K.
Ask for Caroline, she knows everything about wine.
by Ali R.
Dramatic ceiling (there's something disconcerting about sitting underneath so many bottles hanging over your head); very knowledgeable and helpful waitstaff; portion size is perfect
by ISC C.
Eat @ the bar. Friendly bartenders!
