The food is quality, healthy and tasty at the same time. I like restaurants whose food tastes like the ingredients are straight out of your grandma's garden, and this place feels like that. The atmosphere is perfect for a cafe. Unlike some artsy places that are cool and creative, but are dirty and unorganized, Uncommon Ground is clean and stylish. But there is a warm, around-the-fireplace feel about the restaurant. They have art for sale on the walls and my favorite is the back room where the windows have huge pillow-covered benches lining them for seating to some of the tables. White twinkly lights line the windows and their hot chocolate is a rich treat in the winter. They bring in awesome bands and solo performers and the whole experience is always calm and filling. In the day time, it's a perfect place to go with a group of friends to catch up, or go alone to study. In the evening, take date or a group to have a relaxing night of entertainment. The patio in the summer is wonderful too!

Both the Uncommon Ground in Edgewater and Lakeview serve the Uncommon Cocoa with omanhene chocolate and steamed milk, topped with whipped cream and shaved chocolate.
by Eater
Made with butterkase, cheddar and Swiss, the mac and cheese at Uncommon Ground is so creamy it's spoonable. A garnish of crumbled potato chips delivers crunch and a subtle spud flavor.

Wasn't super impressed with the food.

The chilaquiles are always great! Just be careful if you go during a Cubs game. Slow service and the kitchen got backed up. Food was 27+ minutes.

Chopped salad with chicken was really good. Love that the food is organic, and our waiter was incredibly nice!
by Abbie K

The Sidewalk Sazerack is very very strong, but good. The fried cheese curds were a little to fried and too little cheese curds. The sweet potato fries are pretty good though!

Casual atmosphere, serious food and drinks. The burger rocked my world, and they list their beers by how many miles they had to travel to get to the restaurant from the brewery.

Unwind by the warm fireplace or the spacious rooftop. Live music is big here; the late Jeff Buckley was a regular performer, and tribute concerts are still played in his honor.
