  • djsmiley_euro_st reviewI am 48 and grew up at Twin Anchors. A weekly event for the family; a smokey bar with a nickel slide bowling machine and the best ribs in the town. The ribs and sauce are still the same, and eating them brings back memories of when Old Town was Old Town. Some things have to change, I guess. It was a working class and neighborhood joint when I was a kid. Fame and fortune changed the price and the crowd, but when I go home, I always stop at the Anchors for a slab of ribs and a couple of bottles of sauce to tide me over.

  • bwood8589 reviewMy brother-in-law and I have been to Twin Anchors countless times. Although he lives in Boston, he visits Chicago often. When he does, almost every time, we head straight to Twin Anchors for ribs. A full rack, zesty sauce, fries, rye bread, and cole slaw. The best in the city.

  • trdlinc1 reviewI have been coming to this restaurant for 20 years. Now, I think Twin Achors is very expensive at 19.95 for ribs. We have stopped going.

  • theJ reviewHave brought customers from all over the country to Twins. Almost all rated thwe ribs the best they ever had.

  • emjay99 reviewI have been going to this restaurant since kindergarten and I have yet to find better ribs anywhere. This place can't be beat!

  • rudy3 reviewThis restaurant has the best ribs i have ever tasted. I took someone into the restaurant that did not like ribs and by the end of the night he ate the whole slab!

  • eschwainger reviewI have been going to Chicago several times a year since 1990 and always make a point of going to Twin Anchors. In a city known for its ribs, Twin Anchors has the best ribs, bar none. The tourists can go to Carson's, but the ribs at Twin Anchors are unbelievable!

  • lilly904 reviewI have been travelling to Chicago for 15 years and have never missed a visit to Twin Anchors. Some of the finest ribs I've ever tasted and a friendly, casual atmosphere. Alot of fun. A great way to start an evening enjoying the Lincoln Park area of Chicago.

  • davidm7 reviewWhile in town, this is a must.I fly, ride or drive from Kirkland Wa.three to 4 times a year just for the great BBQ. When I'm finished I head home. Friends of mine think it's a little over the top but then they don't know good food....you do! Thanks Pete S. aka `Snarly`

  • bigtbq reviewI lived in the block behind the restaurant for years. All day long you could smell the ribs cooking - mmmm! I live in Hawaii now and I tell you, there are no other ribs like Twin Anchors. I tell everyone I know who will be in Chicago to stop in.

  • slupberger reviewI was raised in Old Town Chicago and have been going to Twin Anchors since I was a kid back in 1950. Frank Sinatra and I agree that the best ribs and coleslaw anywhere is served there. I try to get back there at least once a year for a real treat.

  • ChefMozTwin Anchors used to be a speakeasy and it is a very cool setting, big circular booths up front where the bar is. They even have some limited outdoor seating, but my buddy felt like lounging/eating at the bar, which I guess is a no-no but we were there early enough they let us do it anyway. He’s from LA anyways so he doesn’t value the chance to eat/be outdoors like I do (being a Chicagoan).Onto the food, we split a slab w/the “zesty” sauce which is really not zesty at all, some onion rings, a side of slaw comes w/the ribs. The rib bones were able to be pulled out w/o taking any meat, not always a good sign in my book as I like some chewiness to my ribs. The first part of tasting the meat was a good pork flavor and the sauce, and then came through a boiled meat flavor. I asked if they par-boiled the ribs and was told no, but I’ve done ribs many many different ways at home and I’m very sure they par-boil as the taste is pretty unmistakable. Buddy had the same opinion. Ribs are better than what I had recently at Gale Street Inn, but are for sure not my favorite in Chicago.Onion rings were normal, ok rings. Slaw was a small portion, good though.Go for drinks and a burger here as the place is a very neat/cool place to have a drink/bite, better ribs are elsewhere.
