  • tccltd reviewThis used to be a great place to eat Chinese food however their food quality and service really went down hill to the pits. We recently went with 5 other people and ordered their most expensive seafood `fixed` menu selections. Instead of serving them one dish at a time, they rushed us thru and served all the dishes at one time and the quality of the dishes were absolutely the worst Chinese food we had ever tasted. They wanted to clean up our table before we were done so they could accommodate other guests. Don't waste your time with this joint!

  • mlb1636 reviewI'm from San Francisco so I have eaten at my fair share (and several other people's) of Chinese resturaunts. We've been going to Emperor's Choice regularly for 10 years. The food is always fresh and delicious!

  • semaron reviewI ate here just once and I swear I'll never come back because of the food and price. I ordered the beef tofu, seafood cantonese noodle, and Sa Da (satay) beef. The tofu tasted sour (not fresh) and had to be returned to the kitchen. The satay beef is deep-fried instead of stir fried and it did not taste very good. Their customers are mainly tourists. Chinatown locals don't eat here at all.

  • RevHarryPants reviewWe ordered take-away from Emperor's Choice on Mother's Day to bring to the Northwest Side. The person on the phone was most accommodating, as we lacked a proper menu and ordered from the info found on the Web. She unbegrudgingly described to us an item we were unfamiliar with. We stuck with some Cantonese stand-bys -- sweet & sour pork/chicken, shrimp chop suey. We also got a chicken & black mushroom dish, along with pot stickers. After having arrived on the other end of town with the goods, they were still piping hot. Both sweet & sour dishes were exemplary and abundant, the sauce untainted by artificial color and brimming with pineapple chunks, tomato and bell pepper. The pork could have been a bit less gristly, but this was a mere trifle. Everything was fresh, delicious and satisfying -- even the shrimp chop suey, a dish of humble culinary pedigree, was better than it had to be, brimming with fresh veggies and shrimp. The chicken & black mushrooms contained huge mushroom caps, tender baked chicken breast pieces and was in a light yet tasty brown sauce -- ideal for health-conscious diners. On a past dine-in visit, I had enjoyed their scallops stuffed with shrimp -- marvelous and very fresh for the landlocked Midwest. It has been said that Emperor's Choice is a choice spot for Chinese-style seafood in Chicago. It's not the cheapest, but you get what you pay for, which ends up being a good value nonetheless as well as a worthwhile dining experience. If there is better Cantonese/Hong Kong-style cuisine in Chicago, I've yet to find it.

  • Heather S.The combination emporer's fried rice (minus the poo shrimp) & the beef pan fried noodles were excellent together. I'm not normally a fan of egg rolls but these were delicious. Very thick egg drop.

  • Bob D.Staff was very helpful, attentive, and generous. The beef dish was good but a little heavy on the gravy to the point at which it was almost soupy.

  • Rishad T.This is one of the best spots in Chinatown along with Lao Sichuan and Moon Palace. Their Kung Pao Chicken is especially good and most of the seafood
