  • ordbillw reviewMy favorite spot for Sushi

  • ChefMozI enjoy this place very much. Not a hipster sushi bar, Katsu has some of the best fish in town. I had their Alaskan Salmon, which was the special, and it melted in my mouth. I've never had sashimi that good in my life.Katsu is not just sushi, they have many traditional Japanese dishes.

  • EaterKatsu continues to churn out uncompromising sushi in an unassuming building on the Far North Side for a quarter-century and counting. [Eater 38 Member]

  • Kelly H.Very fresh sushi! You know you are at a good place when the menu says the request of "special sauces" will not be honored! Don't be fooled by the outside appearance.. Katsu is an authentic sushi spot

  • ISC C.Katsu is easily the best and most authentic sushi place ever! All other sushi restaurants pale in comparison. Forget Americanized sushi. This is the real deal.

  • Tasting TableVisit Katsu to pluck slices of pristine seafood from an ice sphere (frozen in a balloon) and devour a chilled salad of crab and cucumber--both designed as cool relief for the unseasonably hot day:

  • Chicago magazineThe selections at this low-key spot lean toward simple, authentic Japanese fare, prepared with great skill. The chef’s signature sushi platter is highly recommended.

  • BravoThe best Japanese Restaurant in Chicago. Located 10 minutes north of the city. They fly in fresh fish from the Tokyo market and the chef owner Katsu is always there. He actually butchers all the fish
