The food is excellent, but service can be understandably slow at peak times
by Horia T
Wonderful food in a minimalistic interior. Probably, best lunch in town-3 course menu for only 25$.
by Sinaida I
The $25 prix fixe lunch includes three courses from James Beard-recognized executive chef Paul Kahan. This experience is definitely not on the average lunch break roster.
by PureWow
Original mixes, tasty food. Choose the 5 courses tasting menu, and enjoy with champagne. Tables are too close from each others and the place is a bit noisy. Service is quick: we had dinner within 1h!
by Elodie P.
I dined solo in this restaurant and I can only sing praises of this place. Welcoming hostess, competent servers, creative bartender, top notched service, excellent food - worth spending money on!
by Niny S
Whether one opts for the a la carte menu or the monthly tasting (10 or so courses for about $125), the experience will be superb.
by Chicago Tribune
We Had the Prix Fix lunch it was great !
by Ran K
Overrated. Honestly, not sure how this place has a Michelin star minus it's service and decor. Go next door to Avec if you actually want delicious food.
by Jyoti G.
the tasting menu was amazing

This soaring restaurant offers some of the most uniquely flavorful dishes around - including their duck breast, aged for several weeks and glazed, served with a slab of seared foie gras.
by Staff Picks
Excellent dishes, creative yet nostalgic. 👍🏼 for endive salad, duck & burnt toast ice cream. Like ambience & music.
by Christine D
The pork belly is amazing! I've never tried something like this before! Is mind blowing! 👏🏼

It's somewhat confusing when they don't know what to do with their own gift cards.

Intimate restaurant with upscale ambiance. Private dining area upstairs was perfect for our team dinner.

World class food and service to match. Go with the tasting menu. Each of the 8 courses is a symphony of flavors, immaculately well balanced!
by Kevin F.
$25 pre-fixe lunch menu is incredible and a ridiculously good value.
by Laurea d.
Amazing dessert!

You came all the way here, you're gonna spend a bundle - just go for the tasting menu + wine pairing. #treatyoself

A very good choice for a business lunch or dinner.
by Ricky S.
"Here, pig is not a trend, because trends die, and at Blackbird, pork lives, and lives and lives. That night at the bar, the amuse bouche was a gorgeous ribbon of lardo." -Time Out on TripExpert
by TripExpert E
Lunch prix fixe took over 50 minutes plus a reminder for entree to be served, and pin bones were left in the salmon. Terrific bread plus amazing steak tartare though.
by jerome k.
Foie gras was delish!! Tried the duck and venison, too!! Be open minded when trying the venison. Salad of endives comes in a pancetta basket! Such a cool presentation
by Allison K.
Don't understand the hype... Awards on every wall, phenomenal reviews across the board, GREAT service, but just OK food. Will try again soon, but we both missed something here.m.
by Chris B.
This restaurant can be expensive but at the same time their $25 three-course lunch is the best four-star deal in town. Try the pork belly or whitefish sandwich. Menu changes for dinner.
by Chicago Tribune
The Grilled striploin & smoke brined chicken breast are excellent! Bourbon gooey butter cake is so delicious!
by John L.
The food was excellent! But for the money the service was so-so. Still really enjoyed the duck breast. Incredible!

Thirsty? Order the Nomad. Get 2.

Blackbird's newest dish is Cider-glazed salmon with miso, sunchoke, rapini & chamomile vinaigrette. It was inspired by all the planters everyone puts out on their front porch every Fall.
by Morsel
Order the Midwestern Makeover. This dish is: Roasted whitefish - grilled romaine, potato broth, chives and lemon oil.
by Morsel
The prix fixe lunch is very worth it! The beef tartare was very flavorful, and the pear sorbet was spot on.

Heirloom tomatoes and the lamb!!!

I recommend splurging on a boozy cocktail. They're delicious here. Ryan, the bartender, is the best.
by AFAR Media
Great attentive service. Excellent food. Pricey and kind of dressy. Definitely make a reservation ahead of time.
by Matt N.
Pretty Awesome!
by Jaime L.
I initially thought it was fufu food. I was pleasantly surprised at the great taste although the portions were small.
by Miz Monnieđź‘ đź’„đź‘— S.
The chicken—which is not really just chicken, but chicken stuffed with sausage, a sort of freakishly delicious frankenmeat—comes on a plate that’s been dusted with dehydrated kaffir lime.
by Time Out Chicago
Tasting menu was well worth the $. Atmosphere is a little scene-y.

Food was really great but unfortunately it was very smoky. We left the place smoking like we were barbecuing! Something must have happened with the ventilation or something

Great value lunch for $22... Nice atmosphere, however waiters seem a bit lost... The cheesecake is to die for. Overall great little place.

Wow. Definitely a foodies paradise and stellar service fit for a Michelin rating .

Very pretentious and expensive. The portions are way too small. The food and drink taste good though

Very good food , a very sexy place , 1 michlan star place

The bubblegum ice cream dessert is insanely good. Yes, you should save room for dessert.
by Mike S.
The lamb sucked. Desserts are all really good though. Most entrees are really overpriced.
by Ekaterina T.
The food is tooooo good here.
by Roxanne F.
Whitefish sandwich is excellent. Stay for dessert.
by Amie G.
Blackbird's specialties are its desserts. Roasted peanut ice cream, goats cheese cheesecake, and roast rhubarb are all worthy of high praise.
by Kenneth T.
beautiful meal, we asked them to create our menu and had an amazing experience! xoxo

The two-inch-thick patty made with short rib from deli/butcher Publican Quality Meats is the star: The meat is velvety, juicy, and, true to its origins, screams quality. http://tmoutchi.us/YmTIHi

I hate to say it, but I really wasn't impressed. Stick to Avec, the sister spot. Nothing I ate at Blackbird was memorable, exciting, or would prompt me to come back. Service was excellent.

The Roasted Striped Bass with braised celery is fantastic.

If you want an appetizer that's exciting, get the endive salad. If you want one for taste, get the veal sweetbreads. Delicious! The sturgeon isn't fishy at all. Don't forget to check out the restroom!
by Katie C.
Is it hot in here or is it just the kitchen staff? Hubba Hubba.
by Kristin F.
Go for lunch. Less crowded, amazing lunch menu, and they will have a prix fix option that for the price is the best mid day meal around.
by Lisa W.
Everything is good here!

If the crispy beef tongue is on the menu, it is a must
by Rafique J.
Blackbird is offering a $22 prix-fixe menu for lunch and a $65 prix fixe for dinner as well as the regular $110 tasting menu. The menus change daily with availability of ingredients.

Caron has garnered a reputation for forward-thinking desserts, like savory elements (in 2010, TOC gave him an Eat Out Award for his use of cilantro in a chocolate dessert.)
by Time Out Chicago
Must-try cocktail: Carlisle. An abstract tribute to the Manhattan, with a base of applejack and delicate bittersweet vermouth and finished with peach bitters.
by Chicago magazine
The rabbit saddle with white truffle shavings is good, but they work wonders with seafood!
by Karl H.
Try the frozen cucumber mousse from our 100 Best list: Executive pastry chef Bryce Caron turns a humble cucumber into this creamsicle-like dessert, which is unexpectedly rich & surprisingly refreshing

$22 prefix lunch is a great value, and delicious! Ask for a cocktail recommendation from the mixologist
by Alison
Food was a little under seasoned but pretty on the plate. Be sure to look behind the curtain in the bathroom.

First in a series of four Paul Kahan essential restaurants, Blackbird has gained national recognition for its consistently inventive dishes. Don't miss: crafted cocktails from mixologist Lynn House
by The Feast
We're currently smitten by the maple-glazed veal sweetbreads with rutabaga and black caraway. (The duck fat-poached elk is a close second.) When the weather's warm, try to snag a table outside.
by Gilt City
Do the prix fixe lunch. $22 for 3 courses.

The inventive menu—grilled wagyu beef chuck tail with pomegranate molasses; celery root bisque with oysters, pineapples, limes, and candied cocoa nibs—has garnered this restaurant many fans.

Order a drink from the chief mixologist, Lynn House. You can't go wrong.

Chef-Restaurateur partners Paul Kahan and Donnie Madia opened their first restaurant, Blackbird in 1997. This sleek and daring restaurant was inspired by a trip to Manhattan’s Daniel.
by GourmetLive
What chef Paul Kahan does with Blackbird in Chicago is what I wish he would come to NY and do, just so I could eat there more often.-Jimmy Bradley , Top Chef
by Bravo
Get the endive salad. Trust me on this one.
by Paul S.
The Parmesan Ricotta dumpling was as heavenly as the service!
by Aliya K.
Tim Fahy’s known for nuanced, offbeat desserts: Under ice cream you’ll find pickled raisins, or maybe a crunchy pile of streusel; ganache is at times made just with chocolate other times, with Ovaltin
by Time Out Chicago
