Blogger Reviews of Urban Belly

  • Eating For Sanity on May 27, 2014

Their signature noodle soup is the Urbanbelly Ramen. Our two friends both ordered this soup and gave me the opportunity to give it a try. This one starts with a saltier pork broth and is filled with classic ramen noodles, braised pork belly, mushrooms, and a soft-boiled egg.

  • Curtis H.Patio was enjoyable, but the ramen isn't particularly authentic or good. Spicy and broth-heavy it lacks all the finishing touches: fish cake, bamboo, etc. Pedestrian at best.

  • Chefs Feed"I like to think of this dish as an homage to pozole. It’s a cultural mash-up of rice noodles, kimchi, hominy, and pork belly in a brothy bowl. It’s exhilarating!" Chef Paul Fehribach

  • Vivian N.Wasn't what I expected for Korean/American fusion. The ramen had a hoisin sauce taste, and a special was an udon noodle with a curry flavor

  • Gerard M.Open kitchen means you can hear the staff saying Fuck that shit....and what a fuckin' asshole. Great lunch conversation! Poor management is usually to blame.

  • Lani LovePass on the mushroom pho. The broth tastes too much like hoisin sauce which is usually served on the side for dipping. Pea shoot fried rice though is a solid choice.

  • christie g.Employees are nice, the space is small, only 4 tables, but nice. My main problem with them is that they can't make any of their dishes without onions. Rice dishes were subpar.

    55555 by Michael G.

  • Serious EatsUrban Belly Ramen: Bill Kim instead uses a phở-like base here, which brings in all kinds of other spices and aromas. This may not please the traditionalists, but works in every other capacity.
