  • RotelMan reviewThis is THE place !!!I just celebrated my anniversary there and had an excellent experience. I had not been to L'Auberge since before the fire, so I was going there not knowing what to expect. To my relief, it's been re-vamped to EXACTLY the way I've known it for the last 10 years. The service was impeccable; very prompt and relaxed. The menu is loaded (and I mean LOADED!) with mouth-watering entrees that make it very very difficult to decide. Usually, you can narrow down a menu by what you don't like on it, leaving perhaps, 2 or 3 things to decide upon. However, it was exactly the opposite, where there were only 2 or 3 things that didn't appeal to me.I ended up getting the entree that has had me coming back, year after year. That is the `papa de ernst` (the name is actually longer than that). It consists of 1 beef tenderloin that is the most tender cut I've ever had; 1 half of a lobster tail; 1 lamb chop; and one veal cut. Garnished with onion, green beans and potato, this is the `can't go wrong` dish. Before the entree arrives, you are first treated to fresh garlic bread along with a raspberry apertif, next is an appetizer of your choosing (I liked the ham and fruit plate), then an excellent fresh green salad w/pepper if you like, then a fruit sorbet, then the entree, then dessert. In addition to their excellent dessert menu, they will make a souffle (costs extra), either chocolate or Grand Maniere'. I found myself entirely too full to order a souffle, but you might be up to it! Expect to spend between $120-150 for two, not including tip.Well worth it for any special occasion! My only criticism of L'Auberge is the chairs. I have a bad back, and since the restraurant is mirrored after little country inns of France, the chairs are small. They are made of wood and wicker, so after sitting for 2 hours, I'm leaving pretty sore. That aside, it's no mystery why L'Auberge keeps making the Washingtonian Magazine, year after year, as one of the best restaurants in the D.C. area.

  •  Nestled in the heart of Great Falls, the old French cottage feel will seduce you into faraway lands. Treat your date to the chateaubriand for two with a bottle of Bordeaux.
