  • poman reviewI had never been to the potato patch before, but my husband had 3 years ago when they were at their old location. He took me and our son over the weekend, we were down attending the ren fest at plantersville. I loved the restaurant!!! Everything about it, the food, the atomosphere, everything. Even our teenage son, who is a very picky eater, loved it. We will be back!!

  • jpsizer reviewWent for dinner monday 5-01-06, there were 8 adults and 2 children, service was way to slow...... they were not even busy.... the food was awful, I had chicken fried chicken, i have ordered it many times,it was awful as were the potatoes, and it was not hot, barley warm, as was anothers meal of chicken fried steak, but the kids corndogs and fries were to hot for them to eat!!! the service was unacceptable, the green tomatoes were also cold, it was a long evening, over 2 hours, and a bad time, we have been going there for years and have had more bad experiances in the last year than we can count, so we all decided, NEVER AGAIN, we crossed them off our list!!!!!

  • secrets_16 reviewJust returned from a wonderful experience at the Potato Patch. There were 8 of us,all seniors, who enjoyed the good food, the atmosphere, the hot rolls they tossed us, the fried green tomatoes. The service was very good even though the restaurant was full. I would recommend it to anyone and the price was very reasonable.

  • the_outlaw_jesus reviewHad many enjoyable visits to the Patch, however, lunch today was a real dissappointment.Got there about 11:20 this morning and did not have to wait for a table - GREAT. Waitress was very friendly and attentive - GREAT. NO ROLLS YET - lousy. Server came back with my tea in a timely manner - GREAT. NO ROLLS YET - lousy. Fried okra & green tomatoes arrived shortly - GREAT. STILL NO ROLLS - lousy.Ordered the usual chopped beef steak with onions & gravy, only to find a hamburger pattie on the plate - DOWNRIGHT bad. If I had wanted a pattie, I would have ordered a hamburger!!. STILL NO ROLLS - lousy. Waitress checked on rolls and related they were not done yet - lousy. Finished meal and was waiting on check - rolls came out - VERY lousy. Finally got check and cashier said bill was $10.01 - for a lunch special & tea????? - lousy. She had to look it up and said the waitress had over charged me. Cashier was grumbling about having to make correction, but she did.My guests and I used to look forward to catching and eating the delicious `throw'd rolls` - NO MORE.It seems that the Potato Patch has fallen into the same trap that most other eateries do upon building new places - less quality and quantity. It's most unfortunate that they lost touch with what made them successful at the old place.A footnote, I was repulsed at seeing the hostess and cashier continually chewing large mouthfuls of food while waiting on customers. Lucky for them the health inspectors were dining elsewhere.

  • Ciaofood reviewI visited the patch in May 2005. I was so satisfied with the whole experience that I told everyone about it when I got home. It was a unique experience which I look forward to in the future. We went the day before Mothers day which was very busy and we were able to sit outside comfortably to wait about 15 min to be called. Even though t they were so busy, we were waited on in a timely manner and were served crisp, piping hot fried okra and fried green tomatoes. We were also skillfully tossed some delicious hot rolls while we waited for `the meal`. Overall everything was great. It was also fun and everyone enjoyed the experience.

  • lowvoltage110 reviewWe visited the PP for dinner early on a Saturday night. Our waitress was MIA most of the time, and when she was there, she was rude. When we asked her to take our order, we got a lecture about having to wait our turn. She pointed to 3 other tables that were 'hers'--yet we'd seated before the people at those tables had arrived.Though the first people in the restaurant had specified that there would be 10-11 in the party, we were seated at two tables which each held 4. When the final two people arrived, the waitress griped at us for having too many people for the tables. The guys said they'd sit at another table and she said they couldn't because those weren't her tables. She told us to pick up our drinks and move to another table some distance away (which was empty when we came in). With hindsight 20-20 vision, I see that was our opportunity to all move to another waitperson's section. There are no longer passarounds...we got a tiny portion of fried green tomatoes on a bed of fried okra in a cardboard boat. The small appetiser plates they put on the table for each person were a joke. Our food was late, and it was cold when it got there. Now, for the final indignity...since there were eleven in our party, we were forced to pay a 15% gratuity for lousy service, bad food, and a rude waitress.Oh, I'm wrong...the final indignities were that when we complained to the manager, she told us it was just too bad and we had to pay the tip...and the cashier overcharged the credit card, entering the $78 total as $97.This is my second bad experience at the Potato Patch...it will be my last. I will no longer take my out-of-town visitors to experience what used to be the fun of throwed rolls.

  • ppallante reviewwould come more often but they dont have potatoe soup on a regular basis. that is why we went there -- they had the best in town....have not been in a year. every week we call and they have not had it on the day we want to come and when we ask --- the lady that answers the phone says `I never know what they are going to have until they make it - you just don't know when they might have it again`

    22222 by ppallante

  • astrojet reviewGot seated fairly quickly. Took awhile to get waited on. Brought drinks and butter. Never did get any rolls to go with the butter. Chopped steak was a thin hamburger patty. They add the gratuity to bill. What if you don't like the service?? Won't go there again.

  • pastguest reviewAfter waiting an hour to get our food it was good, pass arounds scarce. Then when we went to pay, they charged our card over a hundred dollars for two people. They told us they corrected it, and then when I got the bill a couple weeks later it was still on there, called to get it taken off and they said that they would call me back and never did. Called again and talked to the owner, and he got irate and hung up on me!

  • ChefMozThe food and service are exceptional! The waitress, Lynn, is so nice and sweet. The hot roll thrower is a better pitcher than Nolan Ryan. All of the staff is wonderful. The food is more than enough and a bargain.
