Walker's Drive-In Reviews
You can't go wrong with any item on the menu. The fish comes in fresh daily, some from the Gulf Coast while some is flown in from the New England area. Also, the wine list goes quite well with the menu.
With GOOD intentions???Valet parking? Why? There is no covered approach to the door that is about 10 feet from the curb and the entire lot is about 10 feet away from the curb! Never the less the VALETS run out to your car. Probably the most energetic bunch at Schimmelís.If it were a museum or a jewelry store or something in that vein the revolving door and ensuing dťcor would be a little more at home but Schimmelís purports its self a restaurant and ambiance lends little to the food here.A bit pricey for run of the mill fare! I do not know what was in the fried oyster appetizer but big chunks of fried batter and an assortment of sauces are not good substitutes for OYSTERS! If you order the tomato salad thatís exactly what you get a nicely sliced tomato and little if any thing else for only $7. While we are on salads to the best of my knowledge a chefís salad has just a bit more than shredded 4 or 5-day-old iceberg lettuce with 3 or 4 stale out of the box croutons all for just $6! Fortunately we did not order any other seafood (except mini lobster tail additions to the steak $9 for 2 and almost fresh) and I must confess that the 8 ounce filet Minion at $20 was fair but, it is REALLY impossible to mess up as nice a piece of beef as they stumbled into at Schimmelís. If you see the numerous steak butters such as blue cheese among the 4 or 5 others on the menu and assume that they will ask or use any of them on your steak then like us you would be wrong. An assortment of 6 to 7 dollar sides consisting mostly of potatoes led us to the broccoli and once again at $7 for a side of veggies you would think that freshness would be paramount? Not so and our healthy intentions went sadly unconsumed. Well the FOOD runs a little on the down side for what you will pay sooooo you would think that SERVICE may make up? Once again little or no understanding by Schimmelís in this area as well. With sporadic attention to service mixed with just plain bad faux pas you really have to be on the look out for your self instead of the other way round! Like I said Probably the most energetic bunch at Schimmelís are the valets.Really if the Tom Collins had not been just about pure GIN (intentional?) the whole evening would have been an exercise in misplaced posh all for only $100 - $150 per couple.
Lobster skewers and Waygu Hanger steak are yummers.

LOVE the outdoor dining space! But watch out for those pesky sparrows. They will literally try to take food off of your plate. Hilarious.
