I loved the food and ambiance at La Golondrina. My family has been going there for many years, since I was a young girl. To sit and sip a margarita, with the mariachis playing next to us, enjoying some of our favorite, homemade style Mexican food, makes the whole experience so much richer than just going to any old Mexican diner. The food is a cut above the rest, with their handmade tortillas, flan and fresh salsas. I immediately notice the difference in the quality from the chips and salsa all the way to the desserts. We visit about once a month on weekends and enjoy their ample breakfast fare or a dish of carne asada with all the trimmings. It's good for the whole family, bring the kids and the in-laws because everyone will enjoy the visit.

Excellent food served by friendly servers in a warm Mexican atmosphere, inside or on the patio. They'll even bring you a sample if you aren't certain. Highly recommended.

Opened as La Mission Cafe on Spring St. In 1928 it moved to the oldest brick building in LA, built 1855.

Stick with the house specialties, whether its the chicken smothered in chocolate mole sauce, pork baked in banana leaves or crab chile relleno.

Mariachi is super loud! They play inside as well as outside, so beware on the weekends! Very noisy to the point where I can't hear myself think.
