Now we all know that when it comes to barbecue, I'm a little ambivalent, but I know what tastes good and what doesn't. Prior to very recently, I had only been to Rendezvous once, and let's just say...

  • ChuckArno reviewThe Rendezvous is the only place to get ribs in Memphis, or the world for that matter. The rest are simply imposters.

  • spinosad reviewThe Renezvous is great if you have the time and are in downtown Memphis.

  • bullethole357 reviewCertainly one of the worst BBQ places in America, it may have been good in previous years, but folks, this stuff if horribly dried out, old tasting ribs served by old-tyme `servers` with less than helpful attituded. I would not feed this junk to my Irish Setter. Why people here in Memphis think they should recommend this inferior fare to newcomers instead of maybe Corky's, or InterState BBQ, i don't have a clue. The portions are tiny and served on paper plates, I guess the locals think this adds to the `experience` combined with being located in a frggenn alley. Go figure. I can't recommend this dump

  • bullethole357 reviewI was in town for just a short while and had to make the most of my visit. My experience was right up there with Graceland. While I may not go back to Elvis's house I will surely go back to the Rendezvous. All this from one who grew up on Eastern NC BBQ.

  • bullethole357 reviewThe food was surpurb in every way, especially the red beans and rice. I would love to have the recipe. Could this be done? I sure hope so, it would make my husband very very happy. He has raved about it ever since we were in Memphis. Please help me out. thanks

  • spinosad reviewI had heard alot about this restaurant from friends. I have decided that any Memphis trip would not be complete without a trip to the Rendezvous. Besides, I am now addicted to the sauce and seasoning, so I have to restock occasionally.

  • cocolove reviewI had been researching Memphis barbecue for weeks before going there and decided upon the Redezvous. I was highly disappointed. The fact that the servers' rudeness is supposed to add to the character of the place didn't bother me as much as it does some. What bothered me most is that the food definitely did not even come close to living up to its overly touted reputation. There was hardly any meat on the ribs, if any meat at all. The ribs were merely bones convered with a dry spicy powder. Also, the ribs came with a tiny plastic cups of beans and slaw and then store-bought white rolls. A pretty meager serving for the hefty price!!! The wine/beer selection was meager as well--just cheap brands. I would highly recommend bypassing this establishment and finding your barbecue elsewhere!

  • jeffreydeangibso reviewMaybe my expectations were too high-given the hype of this place, but I was sorely disappointed in the food. The beans and slaw were no better than grocery shelf quality and the world famous dry rub ribs came up a might short for me, particularly in quantity. If only the food had come up to the amazing atmosphere_

  • ChefMozI have been coming to Charlie Vergos Rendezvous in downtown Memphis since 1973 when I was 18 years old, and was a freshman at Memphis State (now Memphis Univ.). Great food; great tradition. A national treasure for BBQ foodies.

  • ChefMozIf you go to Memphis then you have to go to the Rendzvous.

    55555 by ChefMoz.org

  • ChefMozWhile the food is on par with most BBQ in Memphis, in my opinion, their biggest competitor in town is better. The air smells of bbq smoke inside. The cole slaw they serve is yellow and tasteless. The service was excellent, though.

  • ChefMozHands down the best dry ribs in Memphis! The Rendezvous is Memphis. It is the perfect place to take out of towners, and it is sure to provide an unforgettable experience!

    55555 by ChefMoz.org

  • ChefMozBetter than Corky's by far. Have their world famous dry ribs, the best you'll ever taste! The great Memphis atmosphere is the greatest, everyone should come.

    55555 by ChefMoz.org

  • ChefMozMy husband and I have been there many times. Every time we are in Memphis we stay at the Holiday Inn Express on Union so we can just walk down the alley to get the best food in town.

    55555 by ChefMoz.org

  • ChefMozGreat atmosphere and the food and service are superb! I never go to Memphis without stopping there.

    55555 by ChefMoz.org

  • Nathan C.Far from Memphis' best! There are smaller places in the city that smash Rendezvous. The meat is absolutely boring without saucing it and the sauce is well, to cinnamony. The waiter was top notch!

    55555 by Nathan C.

    55555 by Lisa A.

  • Alex H.If you want to feel like the pig taken to the slaughterhouse, eat here! Don't forget to order the Ghost River that tastes like the milk from butchered cow in your brisket.

  • DailyCandyChoosing a favorite Memphis barbecue spot is like choosing a favorite child, but we give this basement joint top billing for its vinegar-soaked, spice-crusted ribs.

  • Matt W.Honestly, runs are average at best. War too much dry rub, not even close to falling off the bone, and meat easily gets stuck in your teeth. Brisket is pretty good but this place is just hype.
