  • papanewguinea reviewAt Miya's Sushi, in New Haven, the menu changes all of the time and is like reading a novel. The roll combinations - something I don't order often because they are too filling and bland - are filled with the most bizarre and great combinations of ingredients. Truly `Ameerican Psycho` food - if you have ever read that book, you know what I am talking about. 80's chef gone overboard with their starfruit and goat cheese combinations. But this is actually good. No, great.

  • papanewguinea reviewThis is the best tasting sushi I have ever had!

  • papanewguinea reviewIncredible! Stupendous! Chef Bun Lai has created an edible universe of his own! Make sure to try their kaiseki multi course special which show cases many of his creations - I have never had anything like it - ever!

  • healthwk reviewWhat we love about Miya's Sushi is the relaxing atmosphere; the servers that know your name and favorite sushi roll; this is the most unique sushi joint i've ever been to with the soul of a dive bar and the comfiness of your grandma's house.

  • pae1234 reviewMiya's Sushi is simply unbelievable! I love their salmon tar tar; raw salmon tossed with capers on crispy rice chips. Everything that you will order at Miya's is so different than anything that you have ever experienced.

  • papanewguinea revieweverything about this restaurant is original.

  • pae1234 reviewMiya's creates a sushi lover's sensual paradise. The menu is constantly evolving so miya's keeps me excited and aware! I've eaten at the best Japanese restaurants on both coasts and on food alone this little dive'has them all beat.

  • follyfood reviewMy husband and I LOVE Miya’s Wednesday night special. For one flat price, roughly $30.00 you get an entourage of dishes specially prepared by the excellent chef Bun Lai! It’s best to call ahead to reserve the “Wednesday Night Special”. All you can eat, has never been this exquisite. The dishes have been different each time we’ve gone, and it’s great to know that the chef is creating all these dishes fresh, while you are sitting at your table. If you take a minute break from sipping your hot sake to watch, you’ll see Bun Lai running between the sushi counter and the kitchen working up a sweat to serve up the most unique and flavorful dishes we’ve seen here in Connecticut. He’s truly an artist when it comes to cuisine.

  • follyfood reviewMake sure you calculate the final bill: I was overcharged for three items in the bill. The prices for those three items were ambiguously hand-written and this led me to speculate that it was a deliberate act instead of a mistake. While I find the food in this restaurant creative, I am dubious of the sincerity of this restaurant.

  • papanewguinea reviewMiya's Sushi is the best and most original food of any genre that I have had on the East Coast, or anywhere for that matter. We had the multi-course kaiseki dinner which was by reservation only and it was one of the best meals that we have ever had anywhere.

  • follyfood reviewFood is very tasty but I wish they hadn't deleted Spicy Chicken from menu! I also miss the yams... but everything else is splendid! I love the bowls that the Donburi meals are served in and, oh, everything!

  • healthwk reviewChef Bun Lai, of Miya's Sushi in New Haven has just won his first `Taste Of Asia` title. I believe he has also won `Taste Of Spain` previously. His cuisine is unlike anything that exists today. Try his multi-course `Kaiseki` dinner and his original sakes. reservations recommended or you may end up waiting two hours in line!

  • follyfood reviewFour of us had a really fine lunch and the total bill came to $40! The food was unusual and delicious and attractively presented. We live one and a half hours drive from New Haven but I intend going back again some time soon specifically for a meal at this restaurant.
