  • The SOG City Oracle on Jul 21, 2013

Few places on our travels cause my taste receptors to quiver as much as when we stumble upon a sign that advertises, Oyster Bar. Like a sailor responding to the Siren's call, I find myself being lured inside to savor a dozen or so of these gifts from the sea...

  • lcbryant reviewterrible service. The worst in New Orleans, and probably the worst in the whole southeastern United States. It will be a cold day before I go back.

  • mediakit reviewFood is great. Servers are friendly and fast. The place, however, has NO AMBIANCE at all whatsoever. It looks like a school cafeteria. The walls are industrial green with cement floors. Noise level is high due to absolutely no acoustics. Rugs, curtains, wall hangings...anything would help with the look of the place and the noise level.

    22222 by mediakit

  • briner reviewThe food was adequate, service was bad, and the place had a dirty feel to it. This was one recommendation that Frommers got wrong

    11111 by briner

  • Trevor K.Acme, junior

    33333 by Trevor K.

  • Eugene L.Raw oysters are served Sans-plates, ON the bar, and without any vinaigrette. Lemons and horseradish are self-serve. Chargrilled oysters, red beans, and blackened gator are recommended.

    55555 by Eugene L.

  • Asadur GWould definitely recommend the chargrilled oyster! After 2nd failing to get into Acme Restaurant, we found this great restaurant with exceptionally good food! Loved it!

    55555 by Asadur G

  • Bogdana MNot worth the hype: their oysters were okay but nothing special, the rice in the gumbo undercooked, the beer warm and flat. There's a reason Acme across the street had a huge line! Go there instead!

    33333 by Bogdana M

  • Priya aIf there's a queue, ask to sit at the bar. It's quicker and you get to see the shucking!

    33333 by Priya a

  • Brodie WFresh oysters and every type of po' boy. Fast service and huge portions. I recommend the fried oyster po' boy (duh).

    55555 by Brodie W

  • MarinaThis was my fave restaurant during my lastest trip there. The oysters are HUGE. I had a dozen raw all to myself. Chargrilled oysters are life changing. Bloody Mary was topped with shrimp and oysters.

    55555 by Marina

  • Dorothy J.It's all about the chargrilled oysters. Truly amazing. Raw oysters are great too but mainly serve as a contrast that highlights how delicious the chargrilled ones are!

    55555 by Dorothy J.

    55555 by Jessica G

  • Nathalie LChar grilled Oysters were fantastic. Other food (etoufee, Turtle soup) was average. Here, it's all about the Oysters.

    55555 by Nathalie L

  • Daniel S.Char grilled oysters were really good. We did not like the tequila.

    55555 by Daniel S.

    55555 by John S.

    55555 by Morgan L

  • Brendan M.Oysters duh

    55555 by Brendan M.

  • Michael L. F.I had the Club Sandwich and it was not good. The fries were old and even the waitress said it looked like they had been cooked several times. My wife had the Oysters Rockefeller which were good.

    22222 by Michael L. F.

    55555 by Greg M

    33333 by Joseph A.

  • john DFor tourists only. Absolutely terrible fried catfish, hushpuppies that weren't even crunchy and the kind of pecan pie that you can get at 7-11. Avoid this place

    22222 by john D

    33333 by Ivy E.
