We had not visited the Lighthouse in some time (a couple of years), deciding to head to Port Orchard for dinner. They had always provided exceptional meals in the past, service was always great and the view phenomenal. Seemed like a great idea to celebrate our 27th wedding anniversary here. Our waiter provided excellent service, but the food was less than acceptable. The crusted halibut tasted far less than the "Alaskan Fresh" described and covered with a tasteless red sauce. The steak was tough, providing a less than satisfactory dining experience. This is certainly not the restaurant we remembered enjoying in the past. A business with a view such as Twetens, the ambiance the decor provides and the prices for the meals charged should provide a product that is outstanding. Not the poor quality which they are producing. If our experience is typical of what these people are selling everyday, then this was our last visit to the Lighthouse in Port Orchard. by ChefMoz.org
My family and I ate at Twetens about two weeks ago and enjoyed the food (halibut and chips), the service and the sunset from deck seating. by ChefMoz.org
Stopped by for a Saturday lunch. Everything was terrible. I had fried oysters which I couldn't eat. I don't know how you could mess up on fried oysters - but they did. by ChefMoz.org
Tweten's has the same menu as every other waterfront tourist trap restaurant in the Puget Sound during the 1980's, but hey look, it's 2006! Really, crab and artichoke dip and seafood fettucine - can't we do better than this? The room is nice enough but the food is truly dreadful - much of it pre-processed SYSCO frozen food (my husband, a chef, instantly recognized the BirdsEye frozen vegetables). Horribly overpriced, mushy, overcooked and in many cases microwaved food served by a waiter fresh out of high school who, while friendly enough, had no knowledge of food, wine or service whatsoever. Don't waste your money on this dump, it's an embarrassment to the food service industry. by ChefMoz.org
We have enjoyed occasional visits to Tweten's for the last 10 years, but we have stopped after the last visit. Though the view is great, the food and service were horrible. The waitress did not understand the timing of service (we got the bready stuff after the meal - why did she bother?), empty glasses went unfilled, she did not know how to open a bottle of wine (and it was our third choice - they were out of the popular wines), the bartender did not know how to serve wine, long wait for the salad and appetizer and then everything came at once. Now for the food...it should be a criminal offense to cruelly overcook Copper River salmon, the garlic mashed potatoes were instant with garlic powder, the seafood in the pasta was overcooked, the kids' burgers were overcooked and cold. All this, and there were only 2 other tables seated. No excuses there. by ChefMoz.org
We went to Tweten's for our first time about 2 weeks ago. It was HORRIBLE! We waited over an hour for our food...with two children in tow...and by the time the food got there it was cold and terrible. The waiter was completely unprofessional and tried to blame everything on the kitchen...just unacceptable service and food. We will never return and have spread the word about what a terrible experience we had. by ChefMoz.org
I went twice in one week (not really my choice). The first meal and the first time (ever)I had been there was a great disappointment. My hollandaise sauce tasted pre-packaged and the quality of the food was very low. I got 1/2 off of that meal. The second time I went, the lettuce in my salad was rotten and so I ordered a different meal. The waitress was very apologetic and from her reaction I knew that this was not the first time and was pretty fed up with getting caught in the middle of serving customers bad food. They seem to want to save money, but they served me three meals for the price of 1 1/2 AND I will never go back. It's too bad, the restaurant is a beautiful setting. by ChefMoz.org
I enjoy going to Twetens. I have gone there several times and I always get great food and good service. The decor is nice and there is a wonderful water front view. I go to Twetens when I went to eat a wonderful meal! by ChefMoz.org
I have always had a great time at Tweten's. If I ever have a problem with anything, i just let them know and they fix it! It's a whole lot better than accepting what you don't want and then sniping about it later. by ChefMoz.org
My dear friend and I always look forward to a "special" lunch at Tweten's Light-House but after our last lunch and really feeling like we were eating "left overs" we will not be returning. I am also very mad at us both for not lettingsomeone know before we paid the bill as we really should not have paid it or even finished eating what was given us.Please, do realize we have had great meals in the past but "left over" cold fish on some half warmed pasta was not up to your standards (Has someone else bought the place?). by ChefMoz.org
