A nice alternative to Voodoo. Good donuts with great flavor combos.
by Heather C
I had the Passion Fruit and Cocoa Nib donut and I have never been more surprised by a pastry in my life. It was tangy and sweet and spicy because of the cyan pepper but it was amazing!!
by Chanandler R
You cannot come to Portland and not visit Blue Star!
by Varadh J
Raspberry rosemary buttermilk!
by Max K.
Go here. I'm gluten intolerant and rate my food based on whether it's worth the explosive diarrhea or not. This is. Again, go here.
by Sheryl V
No lines on weekdays if you show up before 8am; buy 12 get 1 free! Blueberry basil is my fav. Olive oil lemon is the least sweet, great for people not really into the sweet donuts.
by Bin Y.
This is where I eat donuts 🍩
by David G
Quite possibly the best place to get doughnuts in the entire Portland metro area. Even better than Voodoo or Nola.
by Peter P
These types of donuts do not come in grades of goodness. Just follow your muse. However the jelly selections e.g. the PB&J are unique twists. Highly recommended.
by Mark H.
Cointreau creme brûlée and maple bacon were my favorites...but they are all incredible!
by Aaron S.
Get the glazed old fashioned and you'll never look back.
by Philip
Chocolate almond ganache donut was amazing. I preferred "Voodoo Doughnut" store a little more because their donuts looked more creative.
by H K.
Get the buttermilk donuts as they have the most interesting texture profile. Best donuts are still donut plant in nyc, but this will give you a satisfying bite or two. Lemon poppyseed was my favorite
by Roniel Tessler
If you're going to do donuts in PDX, this is a must. Try their classic blueberry bourbon basil.

Passion fruit donut is amazing!! The dough is absolutely the best I've had ever.
by Adam K.
Ordered the Raspberry Rosemary and the PB+J (the worker mentioned those were also his two favorites) and they were great! One donut is enough for one person as they are very rich.

by Sean W.
The Salted Caramel with sesame seed is probably the most unexpected best donut you will have
by Paul D.
Aaaaaaamazing! This place beats voodoo any day. Can't wait until April when the 2nd SE (Hawthorne) location opens up!
by hedder
Voodoo Donuts is a bit of an experience and available 24/7, but Blue Star is gourmet and keeps it classy. They only stay open until they sell out of donuts, which can be pretty early some days.
by GNTLMN
Go for the blueberry bourbon basil. All the way.
by Tara T.
Seriously awesome donuts, no hoodoo.
by Jon W.
They are all so good!
by Yuri E
The best donuts, period.
by ronda s.
Love the donuts but the lack of espresso makes me sad.
by Tiffany M.
I hate to admit it, but Blue Star might be better than Dynamo (SF). Either way: So. Good.
by Heather T.
Get the blueberry basil bourbon doughnut. It's even better than it sounds, if that's possible.
by Ashton B.
You can't go wrong here. Make sure to pair you doughnut(s) with a latte.
by Matt T
By 3pm on a sunday they've all gone (except the last 3 that I have)
by Toby B.
Blueberry bourbon and basil is amazing.
by Virginia M.
Creme brûlée donut wow just wow!
by Anne C.
Excellent donuts. Better than Voodoo in Portland or Dynamo in SF. Get two!
by Billy T.
You need to do this. Just do it. Right now. Go.
by Marcus A.
Don't come at 4:30 on a Saturday. They'll likely be all sold out. :(
by David
Their dulce de leche hazelnut doughnut is simply amazing. And they serve Stumptown coffee. Nirvana.
by Jen L.
The original glazed is like a grown up Krispy Kreme.
by Rob A.
This is the "Salt and Straw" of donuts. Stand in the line, it's worth it.
by Whit S.
The bacon maple donut and vahlrona chocolate crunch (custard filled) donut were exceptional. Would have loved to try more flavors!
by Ellen
If you're a tourist, VooDoo will leave you feeling cheap, used and jaded. Go to Blue Star. Order the Valrhona Chocolate Crunch or the fritter or any other donut for that matter. Delicious!!
by Tori M.
Meyer cream puff lime creation is freakin' ridiculous.
by David A.
Puts VooDoo to shame!
by Jake P.
Try the blueberry bourbon and basil glazed donut - it's absolutely scrumptious!
by Craig Z
I liked the unique selection, but the donut itself was nothing special. Not bad, but nothing I'd go out of the way for. #1 Coco Donuts (Sweet, Fluffy ♥)#2 Voodoo#3 Blue Star
by ジークフリート 加.
I prefer classic donut 🍩☕ Keep calm & eat donuts
by Mo R.
Great donuts; terrible cappuccino.
by Lauren W.

by Mo S
Blue Star : craft cocktail bar :: VooDoo : quirky dive bar
by Grant S.
Terrific, fresh, non-jokey donuts (I like plain glazed) and friendly staff.
by Joshua B.
The brioche dough alone is enough, but add that everything is fresh baked, organic and cooked in rice oil and you're on to a winner with just about anything from the rotating selection.
by Andy M.
Looked good on line but tool the kids downtown, tough parking and were sold out at 1:45pm :((. They do not on window open until sold out, but when yelp &4q show 8pm, you don't think sold out at 1pm
by tk i.
Pricey + messy. I recommend Coco donuts over this.
by Colby A.
The chewy texture of the brioche dough is delicious.
by S
Unique thing about this donut shop is the grown-up flavors and the consistency of the donut–mix of cakey and yeasty. The donuts are expensive but big, so worth the extra cost. Often sell out by 5.
by Melissa L.
They are making as many donuts a day as their space allows. Yet, they usually sell out of donuts way before 5pm.
by Stacy A.
So far everything here is amazing!!
by Hilary F.
First person to try the sassafras flavored donut, they literally made up the flavor 20 minutes before I bought one.
by Jon D.
Excellent donuts! The blueberry bourbon basil flavor was fabulous. Donuts pricey at ~ $3 a pop - but large enough to only need one!
