Kentucky Fried Chicken Reviews
Food was good. We went on a Sunday morning and the line was incredibly long. Pancakes are huge and omelette was tasty. The management was nice; however, the restaurant was so busy that the planning (where people sat and how soon) was off. Management sat his friends before customers, that was a downside. In requesting pancakes instead of potatoes and bagel (potatoes and bagel are a part of the meal) as a part of my meal, I got push-back from the servers. The server charged me extra for the pancakes. There was lack of friendliness and customer service.
I stopped into the Village Pub with my husband last Tuesday evening for a quick bite on our way home. We live in the area and thought we should try it out. We chose to sit in the bar since we didn't have a reservation and quickly found a seat on the comfortable banquettes in the lounge. We decided to share 2 items - the charcuterie platter and the mussels. Our waiter kindly offered to bring us the charcuterie first and split the mussels for us as our main course. We were amazed by the charcuterie platter, all made in house. Salami, duck liver mousse, pork rillette, pate and chicken galantine. I could have ordered another for dessert. When the mussels arrived we couldn't believe they were split, we each had a half pound of them sitting in front of us. They were the best mussels I have ever had. Full, meaty and delicious, the garlic toast was used to soak up the remaining juices. Incredible wine list with a great 40 under $40 section. We left full and our bill was under $70 with a bottle of wine. I'll be stopping by the neighborhood pub more often.
We live in the area and recently had dinner at the pub. My appetizer of goat cheese/beets was two mouthfuls for $12; my rib steak came overcooked; to remedy it they brought me a replacement steak: cold and raw (frozen?). Don't fall for the hype...the prices are absurdly high and the dinner was vile. It's time to face the reality that this place is smoke and mirrors....avoid them!
After reading these reviews I have to wonder who is writing them. For over a year now, my husband and I have enjoyed the Village Pub - yes it's expensive and crowded, so get there early and bring plenty of money - after all, it's a night out. We've always had great food and service and it continues to be a favorite spot. Remember, most people that write reviews do it to be negative - it's rare that you read a "glowing" review for any restaurant. My advice, be sure to try it because you'll be sorry if you don't.
Food was overpriced. Bartender was totally undertrained (or just being plain lazy). Crowd was either ancient or snotty with no manners (I went there more than once, just to be fair) and, the second time, my poor little quail made 3 (count 'em) trips to the kitchen and it was STILL cold! So ya' know what? I'd much rather leave a healthy tip on an overpriced menu to a waiter that actually DID something. However, I'd recommend that the management not change anything - 'cause I won't be back to see if it improves anyway!
Five of us had lunch at Village Pub, today, Friday, January 25, 2002. Food was nice but service was the worst ever. Lunch took two and half hours with constantly looking for and motioning to the waiter. How long does it take to get a cup of coffee? How long does it take AFTER the coffee comes to get the cream? Will eat elsewhere next occasion.
New Yorker on vacation...Took group of 5 there and was very impressed with both service and food. Every single dish was excellent (not a dog in the bunch), the atmosphere lovely (unpretentious but stylish and you could actually have a conversation!), and the service very very good. Would return in a heartbeat!
I went to have a quick drink at the bar on Saturday night- and what was supposed to be a romantic drink- instead was rudely interrupted by a raucous bunch of people sitting at their benches. I don't want to overpay for a drink so the nouveau riche have a new hang out. Is this the type of place that they are trying to attract? Well- good luck -the dot.com money should be running out quickly.I will never go there again. Too bad- it's rare to find a local bar that sells Louis XIII and has such a great wine list. The ambiance completely ruined my experience there.
Eaten there several times, at table with friends and also at the bar. Very comfortable atmosphere, and quiet. Food has always been excellent from its Niemen Ranch meat to its French fries (the best). You must try their charcuterie. Wine list impressive for a new restaurant. Service improved greatly since opening.
Went there because of the SF Chronicle hype - not worth it.The service was pretentious, and the food, although presented well, did not merit the price and wait.
Wow, @KFC has totally jacked up their prices. Six bucks for two(!) pieces of chicken and no value menu? #Fail I'm going to @jackbox!
