  I highly recommend Bakers de Normandie. The atmosphere is both warm and sophisticated, and there are regulars who give this cafe a distinct personality. Additionally, the staff is unusually friendly, and they seem to actually like their jobs. I lived in New York City for five years, and was unable to find a sugar cookie commensurate to the Butterdream that this cafe bakes fresh every day (believe me, it was not from lack of trying--when I was in New York, I tried nearly every sugar cookie everywhere I went). The crowd there features everyone from the junior high school in the afternoon. This restaurant has afforded me extreme pleasure throughout the years.
