Old Town Mexican Cafe Reviews
It is a shame that this restaurant is in a very popular tourist spot in San Diego. Many people go there expecting to experience authentic Mexican food. The food is low quailty and not very good tasting. Even the Margaritas are bad. I don't intend to go there ever again unless I get dragged in like the last time I was there.
Tortilla ladies are my favorite part of Old Town! Love this spot and always have.
by Tyler M.
First time here, great food better atmosphere. . The service and waitress was great. And to top off the lunch. ..strawberry Margarita/Mango, thank you for a great time. ..
by Jerry Davis
Muy sabroso, mucho mejor que muchos lugares del DF.
by Andreas Porter
Very busy but for good reason. Some of the best Mexican food I've ever had.
by Russ John
Love the home made tortillas, margaritas, mole, and chicken fajitas.

Bad food, bad service, bartender...slow. Don't go unless your a tourist that has never had Mexican food. After that go to the many great taco shops San Diego has, El Zarape for one.

Fresh tortillas are the best.

Every single thing brought to our table was amazing (see "after" photo). Went back for take-out lunch the next day on the way to the airport. I'm spoiled for the rest of my life because of OTMC.
by Molly Woll
They have the best carnitas in San Diego! Their homemade tortillas are bomb and they are big so the wait moves quick! Also have 3$ margs on Taco Tuesday!
by Lyndsi W.
Been eating here for years. One of our favorite sit down mexican food spots in SD. Great food and very reasonable prices.
by Sean M.
Food and hospitality from the owner was amazing. Get the spinach enchilada.

by Joey M.
Super breakfast service! And they serve Organic Tequila Cocktails!
Just left & now I'm sick in the bathroom. :-/

Decent food but eat here at your peril. Waiters drop cutlery and plates on the floor here on a whim.

by Daniel E.
The food, margarita and the service was above above average. The best part, the home-made corn-shell tortillas. Those tortillas are very tasty and filling so try not to over eat or over order.
by Leke B.
One of the best Mexican Restaurants in old town but always busy. Be ready for a little wait~
by Deborrah R.

Get the Chilli Colorado burrito
by Steven S.
The service and food have slipped in just another crappy mexican food restaurant lacking in flavor. Margaritas are watered down and full of ice. Try somewhere else. :/
by Derek H.
Popular place. waited 30min to be seated. We ordered carnitas, chicken mole, and TEQUILA RIBS. first 2 were ok, but ribs where AMAZING! falling of the bone, tender... will fly back to SD for them!
by Kenny C.
Waitress came twice within five minutes, when we'd barely looked at the extensive menu, then made herself scarce the rest of the night. Food was average, fried ice cream terrible!
by Jessi R.
The food is only so so and if you sit on the patio there are Lots of Flys!
by MaryAnn D.
Good service, but very obviously a tourist hotspot. Anyway...Ceviche good! Fresh, handmade tortillas good! Old Town "special" carnitas- below average.
by Alex S.
Bloody Mary. Must try!! Oh, and the food's good too. ;)
Horchata is delicious and prices reasonable...

Check out the ladies in the front rolling fresh corn tortillas! Order some as an appetizer (spread butter, roll into a taquito then dip in the tomato sauce!)
by Ashley L.
Amazing hand made tortillas. Wish I had checked out part of the city sooner

by Tommy S.
Awesome wings at a Mexican joint, who woulda thought!!! And ask for Joe!
by Lisa B.
Salsa is weak and bad service.
by George A.
Long known for it's vibrant bar scene, the food has slipped markedly over the past ten years. They have 'gringo-ized' the food to appeal to the touristas that come to Old Town State Park.
by Arthur M.
Best Churros ever!
by AJ L.
Tortillas made on site
by Ron H.
Make sure you ask for Leah! Best bartender on the planet!!!

Disappointing. It had been highly recommended. Waitress never checked on us. Food was either bland or salty. Chips were burnt. One step above Taco Bell.
