  • ChefMozWe arrived on a late Sunday afternoon and were greeted by a non-smiling, mumbling hostess to be told it was a 25 minute wait. We waited 35 minutes in the hot sun battling flies and being ignored by all. When we were finally seated, there were only four tables inside being served, the rest of the tables were empty. There were several tables outside with patrons but a large number of these were finished and/or having drinks. The food took another 30 minutes to arrive even though we could easily see at least five cooks in the kitchen and each server only had a maximum number of four tables to wait-on. The food was very poor (example: one shrimp platter was cooked to a medium doneness and another was dark brown and dry) I cannot recommend this place to anyone - horrible service, poor food, biting flies everywhere, etc.

  • ChefMozI was visiting Southport for the first time in July of 2006 (last month).Being on a business trip from a large tourist area in Florida (with huge competition) I found this area to be quite interesting.I went to Fishy Fishy (mostly due to the cute name) ... "heeeere fishy fishy" ... after visiting and checking other menus. At this writing, the place has a very small number of "inside" (air conditioned) tables, but there is no reasonable way to keep the flies out. Not from the area, I had to learn that the 1-2 digit numbers by each item represented dollars each; no $11.99s here ... just "12".Firstly, since there is no real competition, prices are the same everywhere ... HIGH. All area menus tend to specialize with a limited selection. Prices are much higher than quality and surroundings warrant. I'd go further inland for better value, but this location could be considered very romantic."Do you want bread" refers to dinner rolls, which I found hot and fresh with a side of whipped butter.I ordered a small salad and a dinner of Maryland Crab Cakes "24". It was cooked to order and plated as nouveau cuisine ... "small pretty food" that leaves one hungery. Two 3" cakes arrived with an inadequate puddle of chipotle remoulade, very small portions of a very good cold sweet corn relish, kamut rice, and a fan of about 5 snow peas. More sauce was quickly provided when the smiling waitress checked back.Service and cleanliness was quite good; staff works together well. The unpaved parking lot can be muddy or dusty at times. If the place was mine, I'd put in a drop ceiling to cover the now spray-painted beams; then maybe the prices would be more palatable.Overall, a nice experience.

  • Shrimp ceviche is awesome, and their sweet potato fries are some of the best I've ever had.

  • The swordfish is expensive, but it's worth it. (Rockefeller Salmon is a close second.)
