  • ChefMozRecommended by Dick, the owner of the best BandB ever, Sanctuary at Wildwood in Jones, MI, we ordered the top plate offered which was the Surf and Turf for which they are famous. Not ever ordering a dish titled "Market Price" before, we dug into the 6 oz filets mignon and the "small" lobster tails expecting top flight fare. We were disappointed. The filets were "OK" at best and that's being generous, and both tails were slightly overcooked, possessing the telltale rubbery consistency. The flavor of the lobster was not bad, the drawn butter helped even though the butter wasn't really warm enough as the candles weren't lit until after we started eating. We've eaten in many restaurants across America and have even served upper fare to many guests. We feel that we know good food when we eat it. This was not food justified to leverage top local prices. When calling 48 hours later to question the restaurant bill, I was assured that the price was correct and we didn't get the wrong ticket. The lobster was around $42.50 each! Small lobsters! They promised to "look into it" and call me back. I'm not holding my breath. The NY Cheesecake had very good flavor, but not the characteristic flaking texture of the signature desert. The raspberry sauce was excellent. The coffee was horrible. Enough sugar and cream to change the flavor into something else destroyed my appetite for hot coffee with my desert. The view was very nice. On the water really means on the water. We were sat at maybe the best table in the house. Where we ate while watching the colors change at sunset.I wouldn't have written a review at all but the high praise coming from both the restaurant's own advertising as well as the BandB manager needed warnings to head folks off from making a dining mistake.I wish that we could make positive suggestions, but we were only there on one Tuesday evening for the wife's birthday. We drove over 150 miles for a premium BandB and a failure of a dinner. The BandB is excellent. www.sanctuaryatwildwood.com

  • ChefMozGorgeous view of Fisher Lake and great food. Highly recommend the walleye or the perch. Casual place, reminds me of the Fish House in Key Largo, Florida.

  • ChefMozFirst impression: outdated interior, waitresses had short shorts, bar next to dining area with salad and soup buffet in between. Sat down next to window with nice view of lake. The decorations were of course nautical. Paper placemats on tables. No water served until we had to ask. Placed order and headed to soup and salad bar. The rolls were unheated, just cold out of a fridge (?) soup choices tomatoe bisque and cabbage. General salad fixings. Our beer was icy cold. We ordered brie cheese with almonds and brown sugar melted on it and served with fruit and garlic bread. My husband ordered the large prime rib cooked medium rare. Way too much au jus on plate, made it tricky to eat and not spill. My crab legs were barely warm. The baked potatoes we had were so cold the butter and sour cream would not melt. The drawn butter was served but the candle was out and the waitress made reference to it but never lit it. I had to send the crab legs and both potatoes back. New potatoes came out hot enough to eat. The crab was returned, the same half eaten ones that I sent back. I thought they had heated in microwave but the manager assured me they were steamed (In the same steamer they heat others orders, and I had eaten off mine?) The legs were mediocre. The prime was good, yet the fat still looked uncooked and not seared like a prime rib should be. The manager did apologize to me and patted me on the back a couple times and gave me 2 of his business cards (I still do not know why. For referrals?) The waitress was very pleasant but not attentive and we had to keep asking for her to remove dirty dishes. We were offered a drink or dessert for our troubles. My husband took a mixed drink and I had a chocolate cake which after a few bites I realized I was eating it to be nice and not for the flavor, so I left it. Would we return? Absolutely not. Would I recommend it? Absolutely not. We have been to many many restaurants of different qualities and I would have done better at a Red Lobster. The cleanliness of the restaurant was disappointing. This is just a run of the mill diner. The menu and prices were indicative of what we thought would be a nicer place for our anniversary dinner. Total cost with tip was $85.00. The crab was $31.00 of the total. The waitress also gave my husband a choice of olives or mushrooms for his Bloody Mary (mushrooms?) and offered me coffee which I declined. The McDonalds on the way home has a good cup of coffee. We found this place via Google and I read the reviews, thinking the 2 good ones would be the normal and that the "awful" could not possibly be indicative of the food. Now I question, where on earth could the 2 good reviews come up with 5 stars for ambiance? (look that up in the dictionary) The reuben sandwiches at the next table sure looked good though.

  • ChefMozIf your looking for a 24oz Lobster Tail or the best Prime Rib you can eat, this is your place. They have a little bit of everything you could possibly want to satisfy your appetite. The manager came to our outside deck table overlooking the lake at sunset and asked us how our dining experience was that evening. Our food was fabulous and the atmosphere is amazing. The outstanding staff is some of the best in Southwest Michigan. The owner even offered us a late sunset pontoon ride around the lake. Please make this a must stop on your travels through Michigan.

  • ChefMozI've eaten there many times on the way back to the Detroit area after football games. Food and atmosphere were perfect. CJ always tried his best to accomodate us on short notice. Live in Calif now. Wish he would open up out here.

  • ChefMozThey totally ruined my dinner. I ordered their famous prime rib, it came with a Cajon spice that I did not order, complained, they then made it taste like a wood chip by drowning it in another favor. Still awful, complain. Then they had to nerve to not even offer me anything else to eat, took the prime rib off my bill and claimed to be kind enough to only charge me $3 for a side salad that was supposed to come with my meal. There was never any apology. AWFUL! AWFUL! AWFUL!

  • Karlie F.The chicken pesto is fire! Amazing again and again! Watch out for the "lobster special" servers never tell you the price, and there's a reason, worth the extra money hands down but pricey!

  • Ryan R.Beautiful setting on the lake. On a nice day, park near the water, and walk over to the outdoor patio. Try the fish sandwich.
