Maketto Reviews
Maketto fried chicken was amazing! The skin has the tongue-tingling spiciness of Sichuan peppercorns, which I love. Cambodian ground pork curry was great too.

Dim sum starts at 11:30 on Sundays - get there at 11 if you want a table. The food was awesome but they had some issues getting it out of the kitchen. Try the Brussels sprouts and Bloody Mary!
by Brittany
This combination cafe, restaurant, clothing store has an upstairs cafe with a rotating selection of savory options like the popular croissant with house-smoked salmon.
by Eater
Super cool spot. Multi-faceted - food, clothes, drinks
by Irma Z.
Flat white is quite good here and the place is awesome!
by Nadia R
The unique design, combining indoor/outdoor spaces and restaurant with retail, provides a home for an addictive dim sum brunch and beloved dishes like Taiwanese fried chicken.

Must get the maketto fried chicken! It's a big portion so share!
by Bobby T.
The guys who work here are so chill
by karen T
Get the pork bao, the lo mein, and the wok-fried noodles. Cocktails are good too.
by Lindsay B
Maketto is a hipster Mecca but the Vietnamese and Cambodian influenced dim sum boasts a dynamite char bao bun and the best fried chicken we had all year.

It’s like a little bit of Tokyo landed on H Street. Browse the shop while you wait for your table, or just grab a cup of coffee made from house-roasted beans on the second floor.
by Bon Appetit Magazine
Stuff from the rooftop bar next door (5-6 floors up) sometimes gets knocked over and falls into the outdoor courtyard part. A falling ashtray almost cracked my head open. Lawsuit waiting to happen👎🏼
by Alex S.
Upstairs cafe offers great coffee, as well as a place to chill and get some work done. Try the ham and scallion biscuit for breakfast.

Love this place!

The best croissants in DC! As buttery as they are supposed to be. Even better than many places in Paris...(trust a French guy who bake his own bread!) 😉 The moccha buns are great too!
by Stéphane E. B
Coffee. Buns. Great dinner. But if you're just stopping by, simply enjoy the space and those friggin' addictive Chinese Doughnuts
by Leandro L.
Wok fried noodles, braised beef and fried egg, egg custard
by Kat Y.
Don't leave without checking out the vending machine outside on the second floor. There is a refill on the drip coffee.

That chicken num pang sandwich 😍
by Nicole Tseng
What a unique place! It's a clothes store in front, restaurant in back. The food is incredibly well prepared and combines interesting flavors. The leek buns were my favorite!
by Rachel A
Everyone talks about the Fried Chicken, but having been 3 times now, it was one of my least favorite dishes I tried. Don't get me wrong, it's delicious, but being adventurous rewards you even more!
by Roxanne E
Try the Bao's you will like them. The Maketto Chicken is very good. Ask them to go light on the house sauce it is sweet.
by Neville E.
Taiwanese Braised Pork Belly just melts in your mouth! Soy-braised Berkshire pork belly w/ fermented mustard greens.
by Behrad B.
Don't leave without ordering the Taiwanese Fried Chicken and Bread made with organic chicken, five spice caramel, & housemade bread loaf.
by Behrad B.
The crispy gruyere dumplings with spicy braised beef and mustard greens are a great starter for the table.
by Behrad B.
For the heat-seekers out there, get the Spicy Laab over Bone Marrow consisting of mixed herbs, ground pork, chilis, & beef bone.

Pork Steamed Bao with seasoned hoisin is a must!
by Behrad B.
The Painted Hills Ribeye Bao Platter is a amazing dish! Free-range ribeye cooked to perfection, steamed buns, & local vegetables.

Cozy place to meet a friend for coffee of ramen! I love their chai lattes

Awesome restaurant and concept! Erik Bruner-Yang is a DC treasure. You have to go here, you will not regret it!
by Tessa Merna
Words can hardly describe how good my experience was here. Sit at the chef's counter. Get the whole fish and marrow. Savor in victory and relish in the flawless fusion of two great Asian cuisines.
by Byron W.
For two people, they recommend two small plates and one large one. Or four small plates.
by Adam H.
Get the fried chicken. The man makes a pretty strong bird.
by Al F.
Second floor has great coffee and an even better environment for getting stuff done.
by Ernie J
La Ferla Nero d'Avalo and the Taiwanese Fried Chicken (and bread) were my post yoga delight. Perfectly imperfect.
by Tanisha
A nice retail space with a coffee shop nested in the back of the top floor and great food hidden in the back of the first floor. Probably the most brooklyn shop in dc. Worth a visit for sure.
by Joshua
Come for the coffee, stay for the bao.
by Ernie J
Ginsberg from Mad Men was here. Nipples intact.
by Beth S.
Best tartar ever (super spicy)

Coffee, fried chicken and amazing Asian food

Great design, one of the nicest places to sit outside and really good coffee
by Carsten G
The height of hip. In DC. Who knew?
by Scott F.
Cool concept - restaurant, cafe, and shoe shop. Food was not amazing for the price, it was just okay. Service was slow but staff was friendly. Seems like it's be great for coffee, though.
by Daniel W.
Very, very hard to describe Maketto. Come in for a nice pair of shoes and a great cup of coffee.
by Eric B.
Obnoxiously long waits. The fish, the bao, the Taiwanese chicken and the sausage are the best options hands down. Avoid the scallion pancakes.
by John S.
Great food: the whole fish wins. The fried noodles were my favorite though!
by Ab
Fried chicken and veggie puffs
by Naa R
Great third wave coffee shop in a sweet space! Large tables, outside area, Asian restaurant, and 2 bars! this place is the pinnacle of H street.
by Tyler C.
Lilly is the best server!
