  • rcdc reviewGenerally good experience except crab cakes are the worst in the world- tried twice, as couldn't believe they'd be that bad a 2nd time - they were. Everything else is okay.

  • dixiebelle reviewI have been to dozens of restaurants in the area, twice to the Sequoia, and both times this restaurant did the best job at trying to make sure I never returned. The staff tried hard to show contempt for our bothersome questions like `what are the specials?` and `can we sit by the window?` Apparently, The Sequoia was doing us a favor by allowing us to eat there. The food was actually worst than I ever expected - several of the dishes were cold and I would not be suprised if it was re-heated from the day before. The Sequoia is hands-down the best restaurant in DC trying to destroy whatever good image it had before I ever ate there. The description of The Sequoia on this web-site was probably accurate in the 80's, I only wish that was when I ate there.

  • ltaylor11 reviewMy friend and I ate at Sequoia last night. Having read a couple of magazine articles on the restaurant, I anticpated a great experience - I was very disappointed! Although the food was fabulous, I was appalled at the poor customer service given by the staff manning the outdoor bar and patio area. Because of the wonderful view and weather, my friend and I were willing to wait the hour for a table, but our waiter ignored us the entire time and gave us poor service when he did manage to come by. This seemed to be a trend with all the staff with whom we interacted - none of them seemed to care much about how they treated their patrons. I suppose the influx of diners due to the great weather caught restaurant staff off guard, but I find running out of toilet paper in the bathrooms pretty sad. The bathroom attendant was actually passing out paper towels instead!

  • bpalmer151 reviewI visited the restaurant with my boyfriend and found the ambience lovely, the wonderful view of the river and relaxing environment outshined the overall rather poor quality of the food, and bad service from some of its staff. For a romantic evening meal I would definitely recommend this restaurant, and when it is busy at the weekends, as it was when I first visited it, ask if they have tables at the upstairs bar; as this has great views and is somewhat more peaceful than some of the other tables situated on the lower ground floor, some of which will overlook a busy and noisy bar, located next door.
