A little nicer than average Ethiopian places but also a little pricier. Lamb tibs are excellent.

The vegetarian 2 platter!

Amazing atmosphere, great for groups. Injera is delicious! And get the Doro Key Wat and Fosolia. Fosolia might be the best vegetarian dish I've ever had #justafoodie
by Riddhima B
Absolutely fantastic and authentic Ethiopian food. Gluten free injera (like a sour dough pancake) for $4 extra
by Kat E
Get the signature shiro. It will blow your mind
by Shivram S.
Great place for Ethiopian outside the U St. area. A little fancier/pricier than most Ethiopian places, but always fantastic. Both vegetarian & meat dishes are equally delicious.

Delicious Ethiopian food. Probably best in city over Zenebech.
by Venu
Excellent food at great prices in a very stylish atmosphere. First time? Try a sampler platter. It's enough for two.

First time here. So far so good!

Friendly waiters and polite service compensates the average food and shortage of dessert availability after 9pm.
by Ramya S.
You won't find lamb tibs as good as these anywhere else.

I peed out of my ass afterwards, but the food tasted delish going into my body!
by Gina D.
It was tasty, but if you want a pre-dinner drink, do that elsewhere and then have your dinner.

Right up there with Dukem. Cooler decor and the window booths are a nice touch.
by Brett W.
More upscale than many of its Ethiopian counterparts, this is the place to experience spicy, long-cooked stews, the veggie sampler and the sizzling theatrics of meat-and-onion stir-fries called tibs.
by Derek F.
Though it's outside of DC's own "Little Ethiopia", Ethiopic has established itself as the place to go for traditional Ethiopian fare in a trendy and friendly atmosphere. [Eater 38 Member]

All vegetarian dishes are made vegan style.

Veggie sampler I, we ordered two to feed 3 people. Probably a weird choice, but those are the four dishes we wanted.

Ethiopian restaurants aren’t unusual in DC, but this is the place to experience spicy, long-cooked stews and the sizzling theatrics of the meat-and-onion stir-fries called tibs.

Everything is good. But get the vegetarian platter. Golly.
by Chris C.
Some of the area’s best vegetarian eating can be found here. The easiest way to sample the vegetable stews and sautés is to share a generously heaped platter on a round of injera.

Located at the end of the still-developing H Street, Ethiopic turns out an authentic if slightly more upscale than your usual version of Ethiopian cuisine. [Eater 38 Member]

Food blogger C+C Marriage Factory recommends this spot for its amazing food and wonderful staff. The signature tibs (beef with onions, garlic, jalapeño, tomato, and rosemary), vegetarian sampler, and

If you like spicy, go with the beef tibs and miser wot. The veggie sampler is a lot of food -- I liked some, but not all ... collard greens were good, too.
by Tom M.
Huge portions!!! One is enough for two people!!!
by Erin H.
A bit pricey, the kitfo is worth it!
by Barka S.
...I liked the beef tibs. Really good.
by Mike G.
Go for the vegetarian sampler for two. 7 delicious veggie dishes and enough food to feed 3.
by Nate T.
Ethiopic, named after an ancient East African language, serves up an array of fiery wots, meaty tibs & rich & raw kitfos, all spread out on those spongy masses of injera flatbread.
