Rewards for Reviews
Begining July 1st, 2008, every time you write a review you will get a point. At the end of the month each point will act as 1 ticket in a raffle to get cash or t-shirts.
- Grand Prize (1): $54 and a t-shirt
- Runners Up (10): A t-shirt
So why are we doing this? We believe that our recomendation system is very good, however it would be much better if we had more review data. We think that this will be a great way to get people to write reviews, and additionally we needed an excuse to print up some t-shirts.
Ok, now for the actual rules. If you write a review you will get a point (just the 1-5 rating doesn't count, although it will help your recommendations), but each review must be unique and a reasonable length. What is reasonable? We're not going to define that, but think at least a sentence or two (but don't think that you need to write a novel). We reserve the right to disqualify any review for any reason. Having said that we won't disqualify anything for the content of the review (unless it is uses excessive profanity), so good reviews count just as much as bad reviews. What we're trying to discourage here is having someone copy and paste "It's Good!" into 500 restaurants. Don't do that :)
You will see the points instantly in your "My Foodio54" section and this month's contest will run until midnight on 8/1/2008, at which point if this goes well we will have new prizes for August. At the end of the contest we will post the usernames of the winners. Also, all normal contest rules apply, if you live in a country the US has an embargo against or for some other reason it is illegal to send you this, we won't (but then you probably won't be writing restaurant reviews for US and Canadian restaurants anyway right?).
Lastly, you are responsible for informing the government about your new found wealth should you win. All taxes (should you actually choose to let anyone know about this), are your responsibility to pay.
If you're not a member, you can sign up for free and start reviewing restaurants today!
