The food was absolutely fantastic and they were quick to get us a table for 8. However, it was entirely spoiled by the crudest waitress that I have ever met. Our table was composed of young accounting/business professionals and graduate students. At the beginning of the night we asked for the check to be split two ways and she said she would comply. She only refilled our water once at the beginning, and when the check came she had not split it as agreed. We resisted complaining and worked around it.Now here's when the horror comes in. We think we're helping her by writing down the amounts to be put on each credit card onto the back of the check, and the remainder is paid in cash. She comes back with our receipts and instead has split the amount evenly among the cards. We tell her this is not what we wanted and the amounts were written on the back of the bill. Instead of an apologetic `I'm sorry I didn't see that,` she fires back with a snappy `well no one told me, how was I supposed to know.` Frustrated, our friend said, `it's not like it matters to you since you've already gotten your tip.` (18% gratuity included for parties above 6). The waitress turns back to us, obviously furious, and says, `what did you say?`, and our friend says `nevermind` and apologizes. The waitress, in her mid 20s, snaps back with `look, your service was fine and no one told me...` She continues for another few minutes and another one of my colleagues has to stop her. The waitress walks away with one final remark to our friend who spoke back to her: `Yeah, you'll go far.` Excuse me?? I'm sure you can sympathize with this situation that entirely tainted our dining experience. The middle-aged hostess, possibly part owner of the establishment, came over after the majority of our party had already stepped out. `I'm sorry, but you have to understand, we're just trying to do our best.` Then hire competent individuals who don't threaten their customers with `not going far` in life.

Hi, I took my wife out for dinner and ordered the Lasagna at the North Andover, MA. location. I have a picture in my mind as most of us what this plate should look like. My wife and full blooded Italian brother in law make lasagna. The Bertucci's dish was nothing more than some 2`x2` square pasta thrown in a round dish with melted cheese and unconvincing small pieces of meat. Very sloppy and way to much cheese. I thought I was eating a pile of lard. This Italian restaurant should be embarrassed for serving such an item and is a disgrace to Italians. I wouldn't serve it at a fast food level. By the way my wife ordered a chicken dish and she loved it and the service was great. Concerned.

We were made to wait an hour for our table, though we had a reservation. The hostess eventually offered us drinks on the house and we could have forgiven and moved on if things had gone smoothly from there. Alas, they did not. The food was very slow in coming, even though the crowd had thinned out by then. We waited half an hour for our desserts in a totally empty restaurant! The clam and shrimp chowder was very good, the lamb and the pate were acceptable, though not what one would expect at a restaurant of this supposed caliber (Il Capriccio's versions are infinitely better), and the lingine with clams was distinctly mediocre. I have had better at Bertucci's at half the price. The decor is attractive, but the noise level made conversation nearly impossible. Lumiere, in a similar sized space, was quieter and more comfortable. I would not return. This restaurant has become arrogant and doesn't think it needs to work to please, but is resting on past laurels.

My family and I went to this restaurant recently. Service was great and atmosphere was kid-friendly. However, the food was fair at best. I think Durgin Park is relying on its reputation and history instead of keeping the quality of cooking at a high level. Got fish and chips and the fish, 'though fresh and not overcooked, was very greasy and the coleslaw slimy. Fish chowder a nice milk/cream base, but no potatoes and no chuncks of fish, just fish mush. Chicken fingers for the kids were overcooked and very, very greasy. Too greasy to eat.

Food was good but not great. Pretty room and ambience. Surprisingly and disappointingly undistinguished wine list. (On the other hand, I'm from San Francisco, so my standards are pretty high and even the food in the best restaurants in Boston has, so far, proven to be pretty ho-hum for their high prices.)

Held my daughter's 30th birthday party there, great service, band was great and the `male sex theme` antics and party hats were alot of laughs. If you are looking for a `classy` party, this place is not for you.It is a party place !!!!! All class is lost !! Waiter very very helpful, and fast service.. Jeans and t-shirts appropriate dress...

We had a wonderful meal at #9 last evening. I highly recommend the duck which melts in your mouth. The oysters were as fresh as if I'd dug them myself! Service was perfect and the atmosphere was romantic. We'll be back!

Our meal was simply fantastic. We eat out all over the world and this was one of the best we have had in all of 2002. It was New Year's eve and even with this service was excellent. We have not been back in say two years, and it is better all around.
